Week of November 21st, 2022
Important Dates/Things to Know:

Mrs. Ewald’s and Mrs. Fowler’s Reading and Language Arts
We are continuing “The Outsiders” next week in class. Students will be working on comprehension, signposts, characterization, and vocabulary activities. They have been identifying signpost moments in the story as well. We will be wrapping up the novel next week.
Mrs. Boyer's Reading Advancement Program
This week, we read about the rise of industry in the United States after the Civil War. The students worked hard this past week on author's purpose - ask them to sing you the song! Next week, we will finish up the industrial era after the Civil War continuing to focus on author's purpose. Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy your break!
MATH
Grade 7 students just completed their Topic on Percents this past week. During the abbreviated week we will start to explore Expressions.
Accelerated 7 students began their 4th Topic on Percents on Friday. On Monday and Tuesday, students will work on determining the percents of numbers along with the percent proportion.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Students finished Unit 2 this week by taking a quiz (CFA) on the Revolutionary War. Next week, we will take the Unit 2 Test (CSA). We will spend Monday reviewing, and take the test on Tuesday. Enjoy your Thanksgiving break!
SCIENCE
Next week we will be finishing up chapter 1 which focuses on photosynthesis and how energy storage molecules, which contain carbon, enter an ecosystem. After Thanksgiving, we will be moving on to chapter 2 where we will revisit the chemical reaction, cellular respiration, and explore how it is responsible for putting carbon back into the abiotic part of the ecosystem.
