Battle of the Books Kickoff Parade
The 2023 Battle of the Books has begun! The opening ceremonies on Thursday included the first ever Parade of Titles led by our fifth graders. Teachers and book enthusiasts in grades K-2 lined the hallways to cheer on the parade as it wound its way to the auditorium. Once in the auditorium, the Parade of Titles was greeted by cheering staff and students dressed as their favorite book characters. Readers in grades 3-5 then met their Battle team coach and teammates before having their first meeting.
Thank you to Ms. Barend and Ms. Hughes for orchestrating this fantastic event, to the Fisher PAC for their support and to PAC board members, Mrs. McPhee and Mrs. Manchester for they’ve done behind the scenes helping us get ready for this day. Your hard work has generated great excitement and enthusiasm among our students, K-5, to read!
Fisher Counselors’ Newsletter - November 2022
Hello Fisher Families and Happy November!
Students have settled into their school routines and continue to do their best each day as they learn and grow. In SWIM lessons this month, all grade levels will be focusing on showing and spreading kindness, building positive friendships and practicing gratitude. As we discuss kindness, friendships and gratitude, students will make connections with last month’s focus of the Zones of Regulation.
We are excited to begin various group projects with a focus of spreading kindness, not only throughout our school, but within our community as well. We can’t wait to share what our students come up with!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to a counselor with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Carly Mahoney & Erin Mansfield

Celebrating the 50th day of school!
Mrs. Giampietro's visit from GiGi
The fifth graders have been learning about the important role decomposers play in ecosystems. This week, they conducted experiments to see if worms prefer light vs. dark and wet vs. dry places. Then each student designed and carried out their own experiment with a worm. Don't worry, no worms were harmed! The worms will be added to the soil of the Fisher School Community Garden.

This is a wonderful way to support our annual effort to raise money for The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute while doing a little shopping for yourself, or for holiday gift-giving. The link to the shop can also be shared with your friends and family. The more people who support the fundraiser, the higher the total we will receive for our Rally! There is even an option to make a donation if you don’t find anything you would like to purchase. Click HERE to see what incredible offers there are! You can share via text, email, or social media like Facebook and Twitter or Threads, too. Please contact Mrs. McDonough if you have any questions at cmcdonough@walpole.k12.ma.us Thank you to everyone who has already supported our fundraiser!
