Chisholm Update
August 20, 2023
Welcome Back Chisholm Chargers!
Last week sure went by quickly! For the most part, everything went relatively well and it was very apparent on Friday that everyone was more comfortable with the flow of a normal school day. On day two of dismissal, the bus and off-site daycare transportation of students was much smoother, and the car rider process was about 10 minutes quicker than on the first day. I feel confident that we will continue to shave some time off our dismissal times in the coming days while making sure students leave school is a safe manner.
Our doors will open each day beginning at 8:20 as staff are on hand to begin accepting students at that time. If you arrive with students after 8:45 and there aren't staff members outside to greet students, we ask that you park your car and come into the front office foyer to help make sure students are signed in and we can get into the building safely.
Please also continue to have your students wear their colored lanyards this week, especially in the lower grades. These lanyards are helpful in guiding the students to their classroom/ arrival locations along with how they get home at the end of the day.
I wanted to remind you all that Back to School Night is scheduled for this coming Thursday, August 24th. This is a parent-only event that is broken into two different sessions with each starting with a brief introduction in the cafeteria with information provided by the school and our PTO. Following the introduction in the cafeteria, parents will be released to visit their child's classroom and hear about the upcoming school year.
- Session 1 - 5:00 to 6:15 and is for parents of Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades. (there are 30 minutes between sessions to help with parking)
- Session 2 - 6:45 to 8:00 and is for parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
Facebook Pages - There are two links below that will take you to the Facebook pages for both the school and our PTO. Both pages are great places to access information on our school.
As always, thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support last week with meet the teacher/ team and with our first couple of days. As we begin our first five-day week, we anticipate seeing everyone build upon their stamina and familiarity which will serve us well moving forward.

Some of the information below was in the Update sent out last Wednesday, but I wanted to leave it up this week since it contains information that is helpful during the entire school year.
End of the Day Checkout
If you need to check out your student before the end of the day, please do so by using the kiosk in the office foyer before 3:00. You will need your driver's license for any time you are checking out of visiting the campus. Early out dismissals are recorded similarly to tardies. Per district policy on attendance, three early out or tardies equals an absence.
If you are picking up your child at the end of the day via car, please refer to the Car Rider portion of the dismissal procedures listed below. Once you arrive on campus (turning into our parking lot by our front marquee) be sure to have your yellow hangtag on display from your rearview mirror. Our duty person will be entering the numbers in the area by the marquee and we will order your child in the area outside the first-grade hallway.
If you do not have a current-year hangtag, you will need to park your car and enter the office so we can verify you are on the student's check-out list.
Arrival/Dismissal
Please remember at the beginning of the school year, car lines will take significantly longer time than what we normally see during the school year. Make sure you are paying attention and courteous to the staff on duty and other cars (no right on red turning in!). I know it can be frustrating with longer wait times, but once everyone gets into the swing of things our dismissal times are typically 20-25 min.
Please do not block the bus entrance on 33rd as we have daycares and buses that enter and exit from our parking lot.
