Dear Parents,
Winter weather is upon us in full swing. Please make sure your children are dressed for the weather. We go out for recess whenever the weather allows. Also, we are no longer using Remind for parent updates since we have the FCSC Connect App. You can download the app for free on both Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Download for Android: https://bit.ly/2ID88X8
Download for iPhone: https://apple.co/31aTehq
Stay updated with access to events, documents, news from administrators, student stories, and even emergency notifications.
Once installed and set up, receive early notifications of school delays and weather related closings. Here is the FCSC Connect video to view for more information: https://bit.ly/FCSCConnect
Our Santa Shop was a great success.. Our students have really enjoyed the opportunity to pick out their own presents. We appreciate all the hard work of Mrs. Janice Evans for organizing this for us and for the support of the PTO. We also greatly appreciated having all the parent volunteers back helping students pick the ideal presents for their loved ones.
Some upcoming dates of interest are the start of our Winter Break, which starts at the end of school on Dec. 22. School will resume for students on Tuesday, January 5. The second quarter will end on December 22 and report cards will be sent home January 7, 2022
We are still trying to keep everyone safe and Covid free and ask that you check for symptoms each morning and if your child is sick please do not send them. You do need to call the school office each day your child is absent unless they are in a documented quarantine. If your child or family members in your household are positive for Covid he will need to quarantine for 10 days from the start of his symptoms. We are still following the Governor's mandate and masks are still required for the time being.
At Fayette Central we have an amazing staff that goes the extra mile for your children daily. FCSC has a new way you can share your appreciation for that special teacher in your child's life. Please click on the following link to share your appreciation: shorturl.at/hjH78
Sincerely,
Mrs. McCarty, Principal

Mrs. Strong's Classroom News
During reading time, our groups are working on a variety of different skills to improve as readers! Some of our groups are currently reading and discussing texts, working on various comprehension strategies, and locating text evidence to support their answers. Other groups are working on vowel patterns, long/short vowel sounds, and decoding strategies.
The kids are working hard during math time each day! Solving multi-step problems, as well as determining which operations are needed to solve problems, continue to be a huge part of our daily lessons. We are also working to utilize our tools effectively in order to be successful. The students are doing a great job applying themselves and actively participating during the lessons!
I hope everyone has a restful, enjoyable, holiday break with friends and family! I look forward to seeing everyone back in 2022!

Wow! I can’t believe we’re almost halfway through the school year! This year has gotten off to a fantastic start and it’s hard to believe that in just one short semester, these 6th graders will be headed to CMS! We’re continuing working on pre-algebra in math and I’m so impressed with our progress so far! We’ve been working hard with converting units of measurement and we’ve ben introduced to variables and formulas! In reading, we’re focusing on different literary elements and how we see them in stories. We’ve also been focusing heavily on written responses. For writing, we’re getting ready to start on our compare and contrast unit that we will study until Christmas Break. We’ll take a look at how different countries around the world celebrate the holidays. The solar system has been our focus in science and the kids are loving all of the activities we’ve been doing! We’re off to a great start in 6th grade and I can wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!
