Weaverville Elementary Families,

We had such a fun day Friday at our Fun Run Kick-off!

This weekend we have a special challenge. Any student that gets pledges totaling $1 per lap will receive a BOULDER BALL!! Our goal as a school is to raise $50,000 to fund School Improvements, Mini-Grants, Field Trip Assistance and Cultural Arts Programs and if we hit our goal, we will celebrate with SCHOOL WIDE GLOW DANCE PARTY!!!! If you haven’t already, visit MyBooster.com to get registered. Every student that registers receives an Adventure wristband just for registering!! Thank you for your support!

I have a few important reminders for this week:

  • Fun Run this Friday, October 7th! - Our Weaverville Elementary students will be heading to the primary school this Friday for the Fun Run. Be sure to fill out those Walking Field Trip Permission Forms and return to your child's teacher ASAP if you have not already. *We will use these permission forms throughout the year for walking field trips, but we'll always let you know ahead of time when they're scheduled. *If you want to volunteer, check out the link below to sign up.

  • Eblen Pumpkin Sale - Eblen Pumpkin sale starts this week! 100% of funds raised will go to Eblen charities. All month we'll be collecting change in each grade level hallway to donate to Eblen Charities, and we'll see which grade level can earn the most. Students can also buy a paper "pumpkin" for $1 with their name on it to put up in the school cafeteria. And on WEDNESDAY we have Wacky Hair Day (yes, we just had wacky hair day for spirit week, but who doesn't love as many wacky hair days as possible?). Students can donate $1 to participate!

  • Picture Day is Tuesday, October 4th. Be sure to pay online or send money in using the packets/envelopes sent home with your student. Contact your child's teacher if you need more information.

Have a great week!

As you already know next Friday October 7th is the FUN RUN. We will need lots of volunteers to help make the run fun for the kids. The run is at the primary school baseball field. If you can follow the link and help mark laps or corral and cheer the students on. Also, always needed is help with set up and clean up.

4th Grade Baby Pictures for Yearbook 4th Grade Baby Pictures for Yearbook

Parents and Caregivers of 4th Grade Students,

It's already time for our school yearbook team to start working on the 22-23 yearbook! Every year we have several pages of yearbook devoted to fourth-grade students' baby photos. It's always so much fun for students and staff to guess who each student is!

If you would like your child to be included in this part of the yearbook, please email a BABY photo of your child to Karen Adair, WvES staff member. Her email is karen.adair@bcsemail.org.

If you are not able to scan or upload a photo for us, please let us know and we can do this for you in our front office. Go ahead and start searching for that favorite baby photo to send to us!

The deadline for accepting photos will be October 30th.

COVID Updated Protocols COVID Updated Protocols

Exclusion Criteria
This document shows the reasons a student might be excluded from school due to illness.
  • If a student tests positive for COVID (at home or at a healthcare provider), they would isolate for 5 days from when their symptoms began. We will recognize the guidelines established by the CDC and NCDHHS regarding the use of a face covering to be worn for days 6-10 upon return to school.

  • Our normal exclusionary symptoms of fever, diarrhea, and vomiting are in effect. If a student has a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, they must remain at home until symptoms are resolved for 24 hours.

  • Hand hygiene, enhanced cleaning protocols, and improved ventilation are all still priorities and important mitigating strategies.

  • Face coverings remain optional, to be worn by anyone at anytime.

  • Physical distancing such as 3 ft or 6 ft apart is no longer required.

  • Contact tracing is not required.

  • Following the guidelines established by the CDC and NCDHHS, MAHEC will not be providing rapid antigen testing in our schools. Staff and families may order at home tests for free via this link: https://www.covid.gov/tests.

  • MAHEC will send home further guidance regarding when students need to stay home due to an illness.

  • For students where an absence is Covid related please indicate this in your parent or health provider's note.

  • Students/teachers will follow the same guidelines for makeup work as they would for any other illness or injury.
