CMPG Virtual Town Hall Meeting
Join us via Zoom on Tuesday, May 26th, at 6:00 p.m. for a CMPG Town Hall meeting. This meeting will be a way to close the 2019-2020 school year and plan for next year.
We will review the role and regular activities of CMPG, hear from Principal Johnson, and hear from you regarding how parents can support each other and the Montessori community at Cowles next school year.
We won’t be conducting any regular CMPG board business; rather, this is a chance to exchange ideas and hear from parents.

Return to Learn Surveys
DMPS Families:
Thank you for supporting our children and schools as we transitioned to virtual learning this spring. The task of helping children engage in learning at home while working, caring for others, and much more while also dealing with the stress of a global pandemic is monumental. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thank you!
We are asking all families to complete a short survey with two purposes: (1) ensuring our families have access to supports needed this summer and (2) collecting information to assist in preparing to return to school this fall.
The return to school this fall may be virtual or a return to the physical school environment. It is too early to make that determination - at the same time, we need to start planning. If we return to school in the fall in a virtual setting, DMPS will engage in required virtual learning. DMPS engaged in voluntary virtual learning this spring - meaning no new content was introduced and participation was not required (voluntary). Required virtual learning means that new content will be covered through the materials provided and participation will be required.
Please complete the linked 10-minute survey to let us know how your family is doing and help us prepare for fall learning.
You will be asked to log into the survey using the phone number you provided to the school as your contact phone number. Refer to your email from DesMoinesPublicSchools@dmschools.org to review the contact number provided.

Cowles Community Rock Garden
We are dedicating this garden to the joy and community that the late Deb Rock-Schroeder helped foster during her 8 years at Cowles.
How to grow our garden:
- Gather some rocks- there is a small supply of river rocks under the tree in the garden, if needed.
- Paint your rocks any way you would like: Cowles Spirit, in honor of Deb Rock-Schroeder, peace, encouragements, and more.
- Bring your rocks to our Cowles Community Rock Garden in front of the school under the tree.
- Snap picture of your contribution to the garden and send it to: savannah.calaway@dmschools.org
