Holloway Elementary

Greetings!

As principal of A.W. Holloway Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2022-2023 school year! This will be a SUPER year as we continue to engage our students with high-quality educational experiences to enhance their learning. As mighty eagles, we will take flight on this school year to "soar high and aim for success"! I am excited to continue building collaborative relationships with our students, parents and community partners as we diligently work together to prepare our students to be responsible college and career ready citizens.

STUDENTS SHOULD NOT ARRIVE OR BE DROPPED OFF AT SCHOOL BEFORE 7:45A.M. This is to ensure that proper social distancing is taking place and staff will not be on duty before 7:45a.m.

• Kindergarten and First Grade will enter through the front door underneath the breezeway.
• Second grade will enter through the end front door nearest Family Dollar.
• Third - Fifth Grades will enter through the front gate near the tree.

Following the first day of school, to reduce class interruptions, visitors will be allowed in classrooms by appointment only. When you arrive at school, you will need to use the buzzer outside to notify someone in the office that you are here. Photo identification must be presented to receive an early dismissal. If you need to meet with the teacher, please schedule a conference ahead of time. Teachers cannot stop instruction to meet with a parent. Students must walk on their own after the first day of class. School staff will assist if needed.

• Registration will take place Thursday, August 4th at 10am. Please arrive on-time.

• New students must have a completed on-line registration and supporting documents: birth certificate, social security card, immunization card, and 2 proofs of address including: mortgage/lease, current utility bills, etc.
• Returning students must provide supporting documentation forms as needed.

Students should wear light blue polo shirts, navy bottoms, and a belt. Please remember we only wear tennis shoes (any color). Students should be in full uniform each day. Please send your child to school with a clean mask.

Students may bring a snack from home each day. Ice cream will be sold daily for just $1. Food brought in for lunch or snack is NOT allowed to be heated.

• All dismissal changes must be made in writing.
• No early dismissals given after 2:00pm.
• Students miss valuable instruction when they leave early or arrive late. It is imperative that students remain at school. When students leave before 11:30am, they are marked absent.
• A parent or doctor's note must be presented within 3 days of the absence. Only eight parent notes are permitted. After eight parent notes, the absences are marked as unexcused unless a doctor's note is presented.
• Dismissal times: Van Riders - 3:00pm, Cars - 3:05pm, Walkers - 3:10pm

The Child Nutrition Program will accommodate students with special dietary needs i.e. diabetes, food/milk allergies, sodium restriction, blended, pureed, etc. This applies to all students. You must provide written documentation from a physician requesting the alternate diet and food items. The cafeteria manager had copies of the form "Diet Prescription for Meals at School" which you will need completed by the physician. A new form must be submitted every school year. We would like to welcome our new faculty members to the Holloway Family! We are happy to have them here when school starts August 4th! Note: Courtney Matthews is a former HOLLOWAY EAGLE STUDENT who returned to teach at her alma mater. We’re excited to have her back in the Eagle’s nest!

The parent/guardian of any student who has a chronic illness or condition that may cause the student to miss school can provide a Physician's Statement of Illness verifying the child's condition and that the absences are necessary. The statement must be provided to the school at the beginning of each semester.

All parents are asked to pay the $5.00 Elementary Fee for each child. The Elementary Fee will cover the cost of first aid supplies, stamps to mail report cards and other letters during the year.
