INTERVIEW CONTEST
Mrs. Martin’s Personal Finance class is currently studying an "In The Workforce" unit. A recent lesson was about interviews. Students split into four groups. With the interview questions drawn at random, each group member was asked a question and their group scored them based on clarity and quality. After three rounds of questions, scores were tallied and the four top scorers were sent to the interview showdown!
-- 3rd hour Personal Finance finalists included: Maci Muchow, Izzy Dannenberg, Christopher Halvorson, and Carter Schilling.
-- 9th hour Personal Finance finalists included: Matthew Goninen, Michael Edgington, Preston Lease, and Annie Robinson.
The pressure was on! These interviewees had to sit in the front of the class and get interviewed by Mrs. Martin, with questions again being drawn randomly from a pool of 24 questions. The rest of the class scored the interviewees based on the same criteria listed above.
With a top score of 285 points, the 3rd hour winner was Maci Muchow!
With a top score of 218 points, the 9th hour winner was Preston Lease!
Great job, all!
MY OWN TWO HANDS
“I can change the world with my own two hands.” Students learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. and painted their own two hands to remind themselves that they can change the world, too.
WCBA ALL-STATE BAND
Congrats to our musicians selected for the Wisconsin Concert Band Association's Senior High All-State Band -- Libby Dunn, Gracie Foster, Morgan Palzkill, Abby Webb, Elliott Webb, and James Webb -- along with Henry Chapman in the Junior High All-State Band! The concert was held Saturday at UW-Whitewater.
JV STATE WRESTLING
Congrats to our three #PointerNation Wrestlers who headed to JV State at Wausau West last Saturday -- Emmett Collins (150#), Cole Pautz (132#), and Johnny Robinson (106#)!
STATE EDUCATION CONVENTION
Last week, all seven of our Mineral Point School Board members attended the 103rd Wisconsin State Education Convention in Milwaukee! This annual event brought together 3,000 education leaders from around the state for inspirational speakers, workshops, and networking around ideas, lessons learned, and best practices. We'd like to thank our Board members for taking time away from family and work to invest in our district. Other #PointerNation highlights from convention included:
-- Superintendent Mitch Wainwright and Communications Director Joelle Doye were selected to present a breakout session on the importance of school district communication
-- Board President Aaron Dunn and Chuck Tennessen presented in the exhibit hall regarding environmental efforts in our schools including our MPHS Earth Wise Club, as well as programs such as the Penny-Smart & Earth-Wise Story Contest from the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. They are pictured with Evonne Waugh (Midwest Renewable Energy Association) and Brett Jenkin (Clean, Local Energy Alliance - Now!)
SHOE PAINTINGS
High school artists in Drawing & Painting recently finished work on these fantastic landscape shoe paintings! This was a challenge to take a traditional 2D image and modify their selected scene to fit on a 3D base.
ANTARCTICA
1st graders traveled to Antarctica! They learned about the polar region, animals that live there, and tried on snowshoes. Hopefully this week they can try them out in the snow!
DRONES HAVE ARRIVED
Learning how to fly our new indoor drones has created quite the buzz in the elementary library!
GUEST SPEAKERS
Thank you so much to Beau’s dad, Jay and Parker’s dad, Ian for teaching 1st graders about the technology they use for their jobs! We love when guest speakers stop by.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, COOPER
Cooper had a great time celebrating his birthday recently -- hard to believe he's five years old already!
WINTER SPORTS OFFICIALS WEEK
Last week was Winter Sports Officials Appreciation Week! Let’s give a big hand to those WIAA licensed officials who have, or yet will, officiate our home Mineral Point and Dodge-Point high school athletic contests this winter. We are grateful!

HOMECOMING 2024
Mark your calendar for Homecoming 2024! The football game is set for the evening of Friday, October 11 vs. Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg. Please join us for the entire week's festivities celebrating our Pointer pride!
ALUMNI GIRLS BASKETBALL
Unfortunately, after extensive deliberation, the Booster Club has decided to cancel this year's Girls Basketball Alumni event, as the remaining schedule doesn't allow us to fully celebrate the teams with the majority of the alumni.
We look forward to honoring this year's teams during next year's season and hope for better weather. Stay tuned for that new date.
