UPDATING Buzzwords!
We will be sending home a monthly newsletter updating our HES families with current happenings at HES instead of weekly updates via Buzzwords.
Please continue to check our Henryville Elementary Facebook Page and website for weekly updates and announcements.
Monthly Character Trait - RESPECT
We begin our school day in the gym where we are focusing on monthly character traits such as responsibility.
Throughout the school year, we will be focusing on different character traits and we will highlight them in our upcoming monthly newsletter. It is our goal to encourage positive qualities so that HES students will develop good character qualities, make excellent choices, and be leaders in their grade level.
During the first month of school, we have been concentrating on responsibility. We have discussed various ways that we are responsible both at school and at home. Be sure to ask your child how he/she is displaying responsibility at home and at school.
September is all about RESPECT! We will focus on how students can show respect in the classroom, on the playground, at home, and in the community.

Reading Updates
K-6 students recently completed the beginning of the year assessment window in reading.
mClass Assessment for K-2 - This is a universal screener that measures the development of reading skills of all students in grades K-2 through two main assessments: DIBELS and TRC. The DIBELS assessment measures the students' literacy skills such as phonological awareness, alphabetic principals, and fluency connected with the text. TRC individually measures a student's instructional reading level.
Reading Inventory for grades 3-6 - This assessment measures the students' individual reading levels based on reading comprehension. The results are reported as a students' Lexile level.
