Last week we announced our 2023 Teacher of the Year, Jared Perry, music teacher at Booker T. Washington Middle School!
Dr. Sonja Brookins Santelises surprised Mr. Perry with the news while surrounded by his students practicing for their upcoming performance of "Annie". Check out the surprise!

Tomorrow: Board Safety Hearing
The School Board wants to hear from you. The School Board wants to listen and learn to better understand the root causes of violence and its impact on our students. The hearing will inform the future work of the Board. Hear presentations from City Schools and the Mayor's office.
When: Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Where: Booker T. Washington Middle School (1301 McCulloh St, Baltimore, MD 21217)
Time: 6 P.M.
You can sign up for public comment on May 17 between 5:45 and 6:30 p.m.
Members of the public will have 3 minutes each to speak.

Get ready to join City Schools' Office of College and Career Readiness on Wednesday, May 24 for Let's Get HYPED! This FREE event will offer resources to help City Schools' students and families prepare for college and career planning. Educator Recruiting Fair
City Schools is looking for more amazing educators! Do you know anyone who may be interested in working for City Schools?
Tell them to attend the upcoming Recruiting Fair on Wednesday, May 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Professional Development Center (2500 E. Northern Parkway). Applicants can be interviewed and hired on the spot! We're looking to hire classroom teachers, substitute teachers, paraeducators, school counselors, social workers, and more. Custodian Interview Day
City Schools is also looking for more custodians! Do you know anyone who may be interested in working for City Schools?
Tell them to attend the Custodian Interview Day on Tuesday, May 23 at 200 East North Avenue. Interested individuals MUST register to receive an interview time slot for the day. Register for an interview time HERE.
2023 Graduation Ceremonies
Graduation season is quickly approaching and we cannot wait to celebrate the class of 2023! The graduation ceremony schedule is up with dates, locations and times for all high school graduations. Please check with your school for more details on cap and gown pickup, tickets, and more.

Know a school staff member who deserves a shout out? The Share Some Love campaign from the Fund for Educational Excellence makes it easy! Visit www.heartoftheschools.org/sharesomelove to send a customized note in just a few simple steps. Don’t see your school listed? Ask your principal to get your school signed up!
Free Family Farm Hours
Have you been to Great Kids Farm? Join us on Wednesday, May 24 from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. to meet the animals, see what's growing and explore the woods and stream! This event is open and free for all families of City Schools students and staff members.
Peace and Remembrance Day
Please join City Schools as we honor students who have lost their lives due to violence in the past year on Thursday, May 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the courtyard in front of the district office at 200 E. North Avenue.

P-TECH powers students’ pathways toward their dreams
“When I walked into the program, I was a little nervous. I was like ‘Woah, college classes?’ But I have always dreamed of this. I keep growing more and more every year.”

Free SAT prep program with Yleana
The May 31 deadline for students to apply to Yleana's FREE summer SAT prep program is fast approaching!
When: July 10 - August 11
· Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: In person. Two options for sites. Dunbar High School is confirmed. Second site TBD.
Cost: Free!
Deadline to apply: May 31 at 5 p.m.
