5th Grade Music Program

About the Performance and Performance Times

Your student's music program has been scheduled! It will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 6:30 pm. We will also have two day-time performances for the students.

Our program is called "We Haz Jazz." It is a music program that is focused around the amazing genre of Jazz music! We will learn about different musicians and sing different jazzy songs. The program will last about 25-30 minutes.

This program is for ALL 5th grade students. It will be their only opportunity for performance this school year. If you know your student will not be at either the day-time performances or the evening performance, please let me know as soon as possible (TMartin@usd207.org).

On the day of the program, students will need to be back at school between 6:15-6:20 p.m. and meet in their classrooms. Please have them give you any coats or jackets as they will not return to their classrooms.

Speaking Lines

Students will have the opportunity to volunteer for speaking lines. If students want a speaking line, they will receive one, likewise, if they do not want a speaking line, they will not receive one. Scripts will be passed out during the week of November 6, during music class. A copy of the script has been added to this website for your reference (once lines have been assigned). All lines need to be memorized (but I will be in front of the students if any of them forget!).

DVDs and Costumes

The performance will be recorded by a local videographer and available for copy. If you would like a copy, please bring in a blank DVD (not an audio CD). Please have it either before or on the night of the music program.

Students need to be dressed in a white top and dark pants.

Popcorn Party!

The week following our program, we will be having a Popcorn Party in the music room and watch our performance on the SmartBoard. This is a great opportunity to reflect on our performance. If your student cannot have popcorn, please have them bring in a snack to enjoy while we watch our performance. We will be having our celebration on the following days:
