February 2022
RHPS Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon -- Monday, February 7- 11, 2022
Here’s how the Book Fair works:
Students will come to preview the fair with their class on Monday. Each class will have a buying time on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday the bookfair is open until noon for any last minute shoppers per class for 10 minutes.
The best way to send money for your child to the book fair is eWallet! eWallet gives students a safe, cashless way to shop at the in-school Book Fair!
You may also send cash or check with your child made out to RHPS PTSO. Please put it in a Ziploc bag or envelope, write Book Fair on it, and write the child’s first and last name on it. We do not charge tax, but round to the nearest dollar. Example: $5.99= $6, most books end in 99 cents.
You may also shop online for our book fair:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/rhps and all orders ship to your home! Due to the pandemic we will not be hosting family shopping this year.
The book fair also has a case of trinkets for sale, please check this box and return the form to the teacher, if you do not want your child to buy trinkets (books only).
Thank you for supporting our book fair,
Stephanie Shorette - RHPS Book Fair Chairperson

Georgia Parent Survey
We encourage our parents to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey. You may complete the survey using a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you do not have access to the Internet, please come by RHPS, during school hours and our staff be happy to assist you.
Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Georgia Parent Survey is also available in Spanish. Parents may select the Spanish version within the survey.
7 Mindsets - Passion First
The Passion First Mindset teaches us that we are all unique expressions of human existence. It’s vital to find out what our individual strengths and talents are so that we might connect them with our goals and visions for the future. In this mindset, we work with students to understand their unique gifts, their skills and strengths, and how to share them with the world to the maximum extent possible. Not only will they explore their interests, they will begin to identify their core values and what they stand for. The next step is helping them learn how to make their dreams into reality, tapping into both the courage and perseverance needed to overcome any challenges they encounter in pursuit of the lives they desire.

Reminders for parents
Electronic devices:
RHPS students are not allowed to have cell phones or any other communication device turned on during school hours unless by a doctor’s request. If it is determined by a licensed physician or surgeon to be essential for the student's health, that student will have a written plan including the doctor's verification for cell phone/communication device use which has been approved by the school administrator and which is on file in the school office.
If a student brings any of these devices to school, it will be powered off and placed in student’s bookbag until the end of the school day. See page 39 of BCS Student Handbook for more information.
Transportation changes:
If it is necessary to change your child's transportation, please send a note to your child's teacher the morning of the change. If it is after the school day has started, please call the front office to make changes.
Breakfast:
If you would like your child to enjoy breakfast at school, please be sure you have communicated this information to your child's teacher. If your child is a car rider, they should arrive by 8:45 to enjoy breakfast at school.
Medication:
Do you have a child that needs to have medication in school? Students are NOT permitted to carry medication to/from school or be in possession of any medication except under specific circumstances. Medication of any form (over the counter or prescription) must be registered. Medications must be delivered by parent or guardian to the school clinic and signed in with the nurse.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR!
We are pleased to announce the U.S. Department of Agriculture has extended the federal program that offers free school meals for all students during the 2021-2022 school year.
The intent is to ensure children have continued access to free meals regardless of families’ ability to pay. BCS will serve a delicious and nutritious breakfast and lunch each day that school is in session. All of the meals meet nutrition standards established by USDA.
For children who want a little extra food at lunch, we will continue to offer various snacks and entrees’ at an affordable cost to parents.
School meals contribute to students’ well-being and readiness to learn! No application required. All students eat free!
