We are celebrating Read Across America week (formerly Dr. Seuss Week). Here is a reading challenge for you to do with your class. Every day, read aloud any book from the different themed book for the day - it does NOT have to be one listed on the image** (those are just examples). Fill out a raffle slip with your name, the title of the books and which Day it is. Send the slip/s to the library by 2:15 that day to be entered into the drawing for the day prize. All entries will be entered into a grand prize drawing on Friday for $100 to spend for your classroom in the Scholastic Dollars Catalog (books, furniture, incentives, etc). Raffle slips were emailed to you.
ELAR PD
Thank you for a safe week.
As a CIC, we decided not to dress up for Read across America. We will continue to celebrate reading by reading.
This is the week BEFORE Spring break but it is not break yet. Please make sure that there is bell to bell instruction except for the time you are assessing. Students can read after the MOCK STAAR. Typically, students do not take the full time on science benchmark. Students taking Science benchmark should have intentional work to do when they are finished.
I know that some students are excited, some are anxious but we need to continue to provide structure and routine. At this time of year, we actually need to increase our level of rigor and expectation, not relax it.
Reminder- Our contract day is 7:15-3:45 for certified. Students should be picked up from the gym at 7:30.
Paras 7:00-3:30 If you have a modified schedule because of duty, then you already know who you are.
Please make sure that you are on time for our students. Thank you for letting me know on he rare occasion that you are running behind.
Congratulations to Sonja Florian, our Paraprofessional of the Year!
