WHS Helping Cook Children's Programs
SCRUBS is hosting the Penny Drive for Cook Children's Neuroblastoma program from April 30th to May 4th next week. The winning 2nd period class will receive a field trip to Cook's, and the teacher will get a free jeans pass until the end of the year. Cosmetology graciously added to the fabulous prizes for whatever class wins the most donations for 2nd period. WHS will have a "pop up," circus on April 30th in the main foyer that will include Blue Belles, Cheer, Choir, and WHS Drum Line performance during A block mega.
The Second Star to the Right program is a part of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising platform and dance marathon program under that platform. When we told our executive committee members for TCU Dance Marathon (also a fundraising initiative that supports Cook Children’s), the TCU Dance Marathon president, and graduate of Weatherford High School, Lindsey Lang-Ferguson, wanted to wish everyone good luck on the change drive.
The online giving portal is www.promise.cookchildrens.org/WISD. A QR code is on posters and flyers.
Weatherford High School is paying it forward with Second Star to the Right, a change and online donation drive benefiting Cook Children’s! The drive will run from April 30 – May 4, and we are encouraging the kids to start collecting now! The winning classroom from Weatherford High School will win a field trip to Cook Children’s. This opportunity will allow the kids to see their generosity at work!
This program has already generated community support with Cowboyin’ for the Kids agreeing to a matching gift up to $10,000!! That means your donation will be doubled.
This year, Weatherford High School has chosen to help #erasekidcancer by supporting Cook Children’s Neuroblastoma Program in the Hematology and Oncology Center. We hope you can use this opportunity to visit with your kids about kindness and the result of even the smallest acts. Aesop reminds us that, “No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.” Look under those couch cushions, clean out your car, and let’s show Cook Children’s how great Weatherford is!
If you would like to make your donation online, you may do so HERE. Please include the teacher’s name so that your donation will be counted towards the field trip prize!
