Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
We can't wait for Parent-Teacher Conferences ahead on Thursday, February 24th! We love any chance we can get to see you at Muskego Lakes.
Based on your input on the survey we sent out, we will have a mix of in person and virtual conferences that evening.
In person conferences will take place at Muskego Lakes from 4-6pm. Then virtual conferences will take place from 6-8pm.
At Muskego Lakes, we value our partnership with families and understand how important it is that we work together on behalf of your child's academic success. So if your child is struggling in any of his or her classes, we highly recommend that you schedule a conference with that child's teacher.
That way, we can team up to make sure we are providing the support your child needs as a learner.
And we highly recommend scheduling conferences that night at a time when your child can attend.
Back by popular demand, we will once again use Meet the Teacher as the online platform for Parent-Teacher Conferences. That way, you don't have to worry about coordinating conferences with multiple teachers because it will do that for you.
In this newsletter, you will find information about how you can access your child's Quarter 2 grades as that might help you determine whether you want to set up a conference with any of his or her teachers. We also recommend checking in with your children to find out which classes they might be struggling in to help you decide which teachers to meet with.
Thank you for all you do to encourage your children as they continue to set goals, monitor their academic progress, and demonstrate achievement here at school. We hold our students to high academic expectations but we also are here to support them every step of the way.
With Love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Input Needed About Communication from Muskego Lakes
In the Parent Satisfaction Survey, we heard that some of you really appreciate the communication while others feel it is too much.
So, thanks for taking a few minutes to complete the following survey to give us more insight by Tuesday, February 15th.
Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Ups Starting Monday
We will be using "Meet the Teacher'' to schedule these conferences, and each conference will be 10 minutes long with a 2 minute transition in between. This sign up will open on Monday, February 7, 2022 @ 7:00am. If you have more than one child at MLMS, you will be able to book conferences for all with the same log-in.

How to Schedule Your Conference on Meet the Teacher Platform
Step 1: Login
Fill out the details on the page then click the Login button.
You must enter information as it is in Infinite Campus.
Use Samantha not Sam, if Infinite Campus uses your daughter's full name
When entering an email address, ensure it is one associated with the Infinite Campus profile
If you have multiple children, you can decide which child's information to use. They will all give you family access to schedule for all of your children.
A confirmation of your appointments will be sent to the email address you provide.
Step 2: Select Parent Teacher Conference

Choose Automatic if you'd like the system to suggest the shortest possible appointment schedule based on the times you're available to attend. To pick the times to book with each teacher, choose Manual. Then press Next.
We recommend choosing the automatic booking mode when browsing on a mobile device.
Step 5: Choose Teachers

If you chose the automatic booking mode, you'll see provisional appointments which are held for 2 minutes. To keep them, choose Accept at the bottom left.
If it wasn’t possible to book every selected teacher during the times you are able to attend, you can either adjust the teachers you wish to meet with and try again, or switch to manual booking mode (Step 6b).
Step 6b (Manual): Book Appointments
Skip this step if you chose Automatic.
Click any of the green cells to make an appointment. Blue cells signify where you already have an appointment. Grey cells are unavailable.
To change an appointment, delete the original by hovering over the blue box and clicking Delete. Then choose an alternate time.
You can optionally leave a message for the teacher to say what you’d like to discuss, or raise anything beforehand. Once you’re finished booking all appointments, at the top of the page in the alert box, press click here to finish the booking process.
Step 7: Finished

Help Requested for Community Day Ahead!
On February 18, all students will participate in their 3rd Community Day of the 2021-22 school year. We are thrilled to announce that in addition to strengthening relationships with their teachers and peers, they will also be impacting our Muskego community by selecting from 19 different service projects they’d like to participate in! Wow! To pull this off, we require your help. We are looking for donations for several projects we’d like to implement. Here is what we are looking for:
Service project: making tie blankets for local animal shelters
Help requested from you: donation of your old bedsheets and pillowcases
Service project: making tie blankets for the local chapter of Project Linus
Help requested from you: consider donating a 1-yard piece of fleece fabric. It does not matter the pattern, and on-sale is always a plus!
Service project: rock decorating, beading friendship bracelets, crafting wooden tic-tac-toe boards, potting flower seeds, writing thank you letters for our community heroes and for Bay Lane 4th graders to welcome them to MLMS, and the list goes on. All of these projects will be dispersed amongst our district elementary schools, Tudor Oaks, MLMS, and other Muskego spaces.
Help requested:
Please check out our Amazon Wishlist here and consider purchasing an item. You will also notice some games included, which will be used for the team-building portion of the day.

Help Keep Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safe
The safe arrival and departure of our students is the main focus of our pick-up and drop-off procedures. Based on feedback and staff observations that last few weeks, we are asking that all families picking-up and droping off do the following:
- Please review the pictures below for your drop-off/pick-up area for expectations, zone locations, and flow of traffic.
- Pull all the way up, and drop off/pick-up students only in the designated zones.
- Reduce speeds (10mph or less)
- Be patient and stay in the drop-off/pick-up line. Impatience can cloud judgement and cause accidents.
- When students are dropped off, they should exit on the curb side of the car only.
- When students are picked up, they should enter vehicles on the curb side of the car only.

Health Education Series for Parents

Your Choice, Wake Up Call: Learn to Spot the Signs of Alcohol and Drug Use
Parents, grandparents and staff are invited to attend an eye-opening presentation taking place on Tuesday, February 22 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Muskego Performing Arts Center. This event is sponsored by Muskego Norway School District, Rosecrance and Your Choice to Live, Inc.
The rise in the use of vaping devices and other substances among youth is a growing concern. Are you familiar with carts? Dabs? Box mods? If you have young people in your life, you should be.
The Wake Up Call presentation, a program of Your Choice, provides practical information on current drug trends, a walk-through of a teens' bedroom with more than 20 red flags that could indicate substance abuse, and proactive parenting strategies to keep your child substance free.
The presenters, both with lived experience, combine their personal stories, experience working with students and families, and sharing things they wish they would've known into an engaging, real and unique presentation. This presentation is a MUST SEE for parents, grandparents, teachers, community members and other adults who are influential in the lives of youth.
Attendees will also receive a Your Choice Handbook, which is a 30+ page comprehensive resource guide with current drugs trends, signs of abuse, hiding places and relevant paraphernalia, parenting tips and resources all in one place.
*This event is for adults only (21 years of age and older).

Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
