Notes from the Nurse
We are experiencing many students who have been sent home and placed on COVID-19 quarantines who are returning to school without required documentation. If your student has been sent home for possible signs and symptoms that could be consistent with COVID-19, the following rules apply BEFORE they are able to physically return to the campus. Students who show up to school without required documentation will be sent home until this is received by me, Nurse Teeling.
- Student receives a negative COVID-19 test result-FISD accepts either rapid antigen testing or PCR testing. No home test results accepted.
- The doctor identifies the illness as something other than COVID-19, meaning they have reached an alternative diagnosis. If this is the case, the documentation MUST state that the student’s symptoms are NOT due to COVID-19, but rather due to a specific illness.
- Student quarantines for 10 days from the start of reported signs and symptoms.
In addition, FISD has partnered with NOMI testing to provide free of charge rapid COVID-19 testing for FISD students and staff. An ID or employee badge is required and you must sign up for a testing slot. Please see link below.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our campus and community safe and healthy!

Costume Guidelines
As a reward for our students following the behavior guidelines we outlined at the begin of the school year and during our recent class assemblies, we are allowing Halloween costumes to be worn to school on Friday, October 29th. To ensure a safe environment, students must follow these costume guidelines:
1. students may not wear a mask that conceals the entire face (students may only wear the standard face masks that covers the nose, mouth, chin as a COVID precaution)
2. partial face paint is allowed (students may not conceal their entire face with face paint)
3. hair coloring and wigs are allowed
4. hats are allowed but must be turned backwards or turned to the side as to not conceal a student's face
5. weapons of any kind are not allowed (plastic knives, guns, swords, clubs, etc.)
6. costumes must be school appropriate
7. costumes should not be too distracting or prevent a student from participating in classroom lessons and/or activities
Students and parents may always reach out to the administration for any additional clarification or to seek approval for a costume. before being worn on Friday, October 29th.
Volunteers Needed: Career Spotlight
Vandeventer Middle School is looking for volunteers to spotlight their careers for our students. We invite all adults who are interested in stimulating and enriching our students' knowledge by giving them an opportunity to learn about exciting career choices through a short video presentation filmed and put together by the FISD Technology Department. We will be accepting applications from October 1st - October 31st! If interested, fill out the Career Day Spotlight form or scan the QR code!
