Dear Parents / Carers,
We have had another busy week here at Kirk Fenton this week. Nativity rehearsals are in full swing and the school is filled with singing which is delightful!
This term our Head Boy and Girl have been writing letters to local companies to look for donations for a new bench in the school playground. Today they took delivery of a fabulous, sturdy bench that can easily seat up to 5 children (see picture below). We are very grateful to Joe at Tadcaster Timber who hand built the bench for us, the children loved sitting on it at playtime.
I am pleased to confirm this week that Mrs Bembridge has been appointed the Acting Deputy Head Teacher for the spring and summer terms. Congratulations to her! As she will have some time out of class to fulfil the role, Year 5 will be taught by Mrs Wolterman (who is returning following her maternity leave) and Mrs Maguire.
Looking forward to next week, we have the Friends of Kirk Fenton Christmas disco after school on Wednesday following a non-uniform day in lieu of donations of chocolate for the chocolate tombola.
On Thursday there is a village event - the RJC Jolly Holly Christmas toy collection at which our Young Voices choir will be singing. This is at 4:15pm outside of school. If you are able to donate a new toy to the Christmas collection please bring it along to the event (school cannot collect the toys). Please see the poster below for details.
Wrap up warm as the cold weather continues.
Have a lovely weekend,
Karen Williams

Winning Team
This week's maths league has been very exciting and it's all changed at the top! I'm pleased to see such an improvement in children's effort and would like to offer special congratulations to our first place this week which goes to Pankhurst! Seacole, Thunberg, Barnardo, Jean King and Attenborough all improved their total minutes so well done to them. Rashford currently remains top of the league but any class could still win at this stage. I wonder which class will be top next week?
Our Rockstars of the week are Annabella G, Harry S, Alexa K, Ralfie W and James D. This week's Numbots Superstars are Seb E, Alfie W, Matthew M and Jermaine D. Well done everyone!

Some children from across KS2 have been selected for a tag rugby tournament, which everyone is very excited about. Also, some very exciting news, a local company has donated a bench, which now stands under the library window.

Hello
Exciting news - we have chosen our Eco-Committee for this year. We had so many children who were passionate about making a difference and changing the world and more importantly our own community that it was difficult to chose. The children on our Eco-Committee are; Jacob - Y6, Flynn, Skyla, Ralfie - Y5, Tilly, Harvey, Logan - Y4, Willow, Tom G - Y3, Harry, Eva - Y2, Elin, Seb - Y1/2, Bertie, Alba - Y1. Reception children will be added in the New Year. The children who sent in an application but were unsuccessful will be on our Eco Warrier Team who will be helping at all our events.
