Positive Assessment Results

Dear Portland Public Schools families,
Earlier today, the Oregon Department of Education released the results of last spring’s statewide assessments. At a time when, unfortunately, many districts are experiencing significant dips – at a time when national trends are going backwards – we’re proud to share with you that we have made notable gains.
Across all grades, we outperformed other Oregon districts by more than 10% in both English Language Arts and Math. And in all grades, our students also improved from last year in both Math and English Language Arts.
You can find more details here, or read what area media are saying about our performance:
- Our "students demonstrated significant progress" (KPTV)
- Our "district bucked the trend of stagnant performance" (Oregonian)
- Our "performance exceeds the Oregon state average" (OPB)
Thank you – students, families, educators, school leaders, support staff – Team PPS, we are making the right moves. We look forward to building on these early successes over this school year.
