GCJHS News
2. ILEARN testing dates - We have finished the majority of ILEARN tests this week and the students did a GREAT job of focusing on the task at hand! All we have left to do are a few Make-Up tests and we will finish those next week.
3. Washington D.C. Trip (8th Grade) . . . There will be a mandatory All Travelers meeting for the Washington D.C. trip on May 4 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. Chaperones going on the trip need to attend as well! You can RSVP below in this newsletter.
4. Information about a FREE Beginner Wrestling Camp for grades 4-7 can be found in the flyer section below. Coach Holden will be at GCJHS during lunch next week to tell the students about it.
5. On May the 17th our 8th Grade students will be visiting our High School to tour the building and learn more about Life as a Freshman :) That same morning we will have 6th Grade students from GIS & MIS visit our building to take a tour and learn more about LIFE @ GCJHS :)
6. We will have two separate End of the Year Awards Ceremonies on May 26th. See the calendar invites below for more information.
7. Below in the flyer and download section more information about the upcoming Greenfield Fire Teen Academy. Students can also stop by the Student Services Office if they need a paper copy of the forms.
8. The GCJH Athletic Department is clearing out some old uniforms and apparel. Items are available for students to purchase for $3 or $5. Students must complete this Google Form (https://forms.gle/RQFAwxNjF1gpvSRx6) for each item they wish to purchase. Everything is first come, first served. Money must be collected before the items will be distributed. The form includes pictures of each item available for purchase, as well as sizes/quantities of each item.
9. SUPPORT INCLUSION/SPECIAL OLYMPICS/UNIFIED CHAMPIONS = POP FOR A PURPOSE . . . During Homeroom next week students will enjoy a video presentation about Inclusion. Thanks to all who made donations last week to support Special Olympics/ Unified Champions.You can see a copy of the video at https://youtu.be/cSXRHodKmIg. Contact Mrs. Finley if you have questions or want to assist in any way.
10. 8th grade dance tickets go on sale this Wednesday and will be available in student services through Wednesday, May 18th. They are $10 each and are available for GCJHS 8th graders only.

End of the Year Awards Program = 8th Grade
- This will take place in the Main Gym
Not every student will be receiving an award.
Each teacher will recognize an “outstanding student” from each of their classes. These awards are given to students who display outstanding academic achievement, character, hard work, leadership, perseverance, and/or teamwork.
Two outstanding 8th grade student-athletes will be recognized with the Ron Reed Sportsmanship Award.
Parents are welcome to attend.
Students may go home at the conclusion of the program with their parents.
Students must be signed out before leaving.
To leave with a different parent they must have a written note from their own parent giving permission.
Students who have earned honor roll status will be recognized during homeroom near the end of the year.
