Kicking Off the 2023-24 School Year
Dear Cardinal Family,
I hope this finds you well and that your student(s) and you are excited about the upcoming school year. Our team has worked hard over the summer months to prepare for the first day of school on Thursday, August 10th.
Please know you will experience congestion on roadways due to increased traffic for the few days and weeks of school. These delays could also impact bus routes, and we are also training several new bus drivers. Please exercise patience, and allow plenty of time traveling to and from school, as it will be slower than typical for the first week and a half.
Over the summer months, due to student growth, we added portable classroom buildings at three of our school sites (Herald ES, CUE, and CHS). We also added two classrooms inside the library-media center at CMS and have repurposed other spaces in our school buildings to increase classroom space. Later this calendar year, district leadership will provide an updated capital improvement plan on how we will meet the needs of our growing student population.
One of the essential summer projects was installing night lock security devices on every classroom door and office space at our school sites. How to properly deploy the devices will become a part of our mandatory lockdown drills so students and staff are prepared in an emergency. We sincerely appreciate the support of all those who helped provide this extra layer of security for our students and staff.
Regarding school security, we also have added a third school resource officer, which you can read more about below.
Here is to a happy and productive school year, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeremy Hogan
Superintendent of Schools
