Barber Bulletin
Dear Parents,
As we begin the second nine weeks, we look forward to many anticipated events at Pontiac Elementary School. We celebrate American Education Week November 13-17. Consider visiting your child’s classroom this week to see what your student’s day is like at PES! Enjoy a lunch in our cafeteria if you would like as well! We look forward to your visit during American Education Week!
We hope you will join us for several events we have planned!
On the morning of November 13, at 7:30am, I invite you to join me for Coffee and Conversation. This is an opportunity for you to meet with myself and the other administrators and discuss issues related to our school. Ask questions! Share joy! Tell us ideas you might have! We look forward to this time with you!
On Thursday, November 16, we will host a Student Showcase for students in grades 3-5 and Upper Montessori. Please come look at all the “super” work your child will share! We are excited to welcome you for this SUPERHERO-themed event!
We appreciate our PTO for celebrating teachers during American Education Week! PTO is providing a delicious lunch for teachers on Friday, November 17 to wrap up this special week. Please consider donating a dessert for this staff lunch. PTO representatives will receive these in the car rider line on the morning of November 17.
Thanksgiving holidays begin on November 22 and we wish all of our students and their families a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving. Students return to school on Monday, November 27.
Parents, we encourage you to be involved at Pontiac!

Thank you for your continued support.
Professional Parrot Contest
As part of our Red Ribbon Week celebration, our 5th grade students participated in an interviewing contest. Ten judges from our community came and spoke with all 87 5th grade students and scored them based on professional appearance, introducing themselves, conversation skills, and confidence. This competition was a fun way to work on the "soft skills" our students need to be exceptional leaders! We are so proud of all of our 5th grade students for the courage and professionalism they showed during the Professional Parrot Contest.
Congratulations to our classroom winners: Briceson Frazier-Crosby, Iyana Evans, Clare Venn, Jalen Worthy, Nicholas Brantley, Rian McCallum, Jaylen Stucky, and Kimberly Morales Garcia.
Special congratulations to our top 3 finishers:
1st place: Lauren Rush
2nd place: Ashalyne Fietkau-Cortes
3rd place: Isabella Moreno Alvarado
American Education Week
In celebration of America Education Week November 13-17th, Pontiac PTO will be providing lunch to teachers and staff on Friday, November 17th. Our generous Pontiac Parrot families have traditionally provided desserts for this luncheon and we are once again asking for donations. Representatives from Pontiac PTO will be collecting donations of desserts such as cookies, cakes, and pies in the morning carline on November 17th. You can also leave any donations at the front desk that morning.
Pontiac PTO thanks you for your support!
