The Sky's the Limit!
Dear Families,
We are excited about what this year has to offer. Our theme is 'The Sky's the Limit'. The possibilities are endless for each of our scholars. Every child will have a positive learning environment where they are able to achieve their academic goals.
I know we have anxiety about the opening of school, I do as well. However, we will continue to provide a safe environment for all stakeholders! Wearing masks, washing our hands, socially distancing ourselves while in the building and on the bus will be key factors to keep us all safe.
Our staff is working hard organizing for the new school year!
Sincerely,
Principal Gaston

FTE Virtual Learning Program
Prince George’s County Public Schools is writing with an update on virtual learning for students in grades K-6. We appreciate your patience as we have been working diligently to expand virtual learning seat offerings. We are pleased to share that we will be able to accommodate all families who requested virtual learning for their students in grades K-6 until the COVID-19 vaccine is widely available to students under the age of 11.
While most students in PGCPS will be returning to in-person instruction, the number of families who recently requested virtual learning exceeds our capacity to provide the small, limited program operating out of the PGCPS central office that we had originally designed. The significant increase in requests for virtual learning as a result of the delta variant means that we will now provide virtual learning options in multiple ways. Many schools will have enough students at each grade level who requested virtual learning so that we can offer one virtual classroom at each grade level in those schools. Other schools do not have large numbers of virtual learners; in those cases we will create virtual classrooms between two or more schools. Each school’s virtual option may be slightly different depending on the number of students and staff availability; however, we are committed to making this work for our families who requested virtual learning while we await the vaccine for children.
Thus said, Francis T. Evans ES will have a virtual learning class at every grade level. Teachers of the virtual class will have scholars in-person and online at the same time. Specialists will also have scholars in-person and virtually. All scholars will have access to any asynchronous lessons, previously recorded, by a Teacher/Specialist.
Parents of our Virtual Learning Scholars, who were already on the waitlist, will receive confirmation of their request before September 3. If you have any questions, please call, Class Dojo, or email sonya.gaston@pgcps.org or ashley.conwell@pgcps.org.

NO SHOTS, NO SCHOOL: DON'T FORGET ROUTINE IMMUNIZATIONS!
COVID-19 vaccination is highly encouraged for students 12 years and older but don't forget about routine immunizations for back to school! The Prince George’s County Health Department is hosting clinics in August and September at multiple school sites and the Cheverly Health Center to bring students up-to-date on vaccinations. The clinics are targeted to families with little to no access to health care. Fees are on a sliding scale. Students with an appointment for routine immunizations may also receive a COVID-19 vaccination on site.
Upcoming Clinics (All clinics are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.):
Sept. 1 — Fairmont Heights High School
Sept. 8-10 — Bladensburg High School
Sept. 11, 18 and 25 — Cheverly Health Center
