Mill Valley Weekly
September 28th, 2023
Hello Mill Valley Families,
It is hard to believe that my last day as Mill Valley principal is tomorrow. Mill Valley has been my home for the past 12 years. I will forever cherish the many memories that have been created within the walls of this great school. I look forward to seeing familiar faces across the district as I take on my new role of Assistant Superintendent of Continuous Improvement. Mill Valley has grown many leaders over the years so succession planning is nothing new. I am fully confident that Mill Valley's greatness will continue under the leadership of Mrs. Harris and Ms. Hetzel. Please know that Mill Valley will always hold a special place in my heart. It has been a privilege to serve as principal and celebrate alongside you the numerous successes that have made MV one of the top schools in our state.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot, Building Principal

Meet our 2023-2024 Student Council Members
Mill Valley values the input of students and wants to begin growing future leaders. This year we have selected eight 3rd grade students to be a part of our Mill Valley Student Council. Students were asked to complete an application and were selected on their responses and ability to follow the Mill Valley expectations of being respectful, responsible and kind. This student leadership group will meet twice a month with Mrs. Harris, Ms. Hetzel and Mrs. Schiessl, who are the student council advisors. Please join us in congratulating this year's student council members!
Library & the GOLDEN TICKETS
In the Mill Valley Library, we have placed over 100 Golden Tickets inside books of all reading levels. If a student finds one of these Golden Tickets, they get to schedule a one-on-one meeting with Mrs. Harris or Ms. Hetzel to tell them all about the book they read!

Hot Lunch Questions...
Q: Are elementary students charged for extra and/or a la carte items in the hot lunch line?
A: Extra items are defined as items that are taken more than the allotted amount included in the purchase of the complete hot lunch meal. A la carte items are defined as any single food item, condiment or utensil package taken as not a part of the full complete meal served for that day.
If students are taking a complete hot lunch meal, they are only charged for extra items taken. An example would be if a student took 5 packets of ketchup for their french fries, then they would be charged for the excess amount of packages taken. Another example of being charged would be if a student took two utensil packages because only one comes with the meal.
If the student has brought their lunch and not purchased a complete hot lunch, they can get things a la carte for a charge. For a cost, students can get fruits, vegetables, milk, condiments (ketchup, mayo, etc.) or a utensil package. All of these items are considered a la carte for the student and would be deducted from the student's lunch account.
Q: Do all the students taking hot lunch get the same fruits and vegetables offered with their meal?
A: Every student taking a hot lunch meal gets offered at least a fruit and a vegetable each day. It may not be the same fruit or vegetable that was offered in the first lunches due to the number of students that may or may not take them. If the fruit or vegetable runs out, another one is offered.

Superintendent Focus Groups and Survey Link
The Muskego-Norway School Board invites your participation in developing a desired Profile to inform the search and selection of our next Superintendent of Schools to begin on July 1, 2024.
The New Superintendent Profile will be based on both survey and focus group participation and responses. The online survey, linked below, will be on our district website through September 29 and the focus groups with various stakeholder groups will be scheduled at convenient times during the month of September. Parent and community member focus group dates, times, and locations are listed below. Based on the survey and focus group results, the New Superintendent Profile will be presented to the School Board for approval on October 9, 2023.
Responses to the survey and focus group questions will help to inform the “greatest strengths” of the district to sustain and continue to grow, and the “greatest challenges” of the district to prioritize and address. Your responses will also seek input on the projected initial priorities/goals of the new superintendent and the “most important characteristics/skills” needed to make the connections to address the priorities/goals together.
So, your participation in the online survey, linked below, and the in-person focus groups during the month of September is essential to informing the search - both as an encouragement for qualified candidates to apply and as an encouragement for the school board in their vetting process to discern the most qualified candidate to continue to lead the continuous improvement steps of our sought after Muskego-Norway Schools.
