From Principal Matt Hills

Mustang Families,

As the first week of virtual learning comes to an end, we would like to thank all of our Mustangs for their incredible engagement. Students experienced a new sense of normalcy. The new and improved normal included powerful conversations, thoughtfully planned classroom routines and structures, laughs, nerves, a technology glitch or two, and genuine excitement to see one another. Throughout our opening week, we were able to speak with student leadership groups who shared their honest and reflective feedback. It was clear our students thrive when they are able to establish strong relationships in the classroom environment. We are all happy to be back!

A special thank you to all of our faculty who have been working around the clock to meet the diverse needs of our incredible student body. We are also lucky to have such a supportive community.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Mason Admin Team

Student Textbooks and Materials Distribution

Beginning Monday, August 31, students and families should come to school to pick up their textbooks and materials. Bags have been individually packed. Please enter on the Haycock Road entrance, immediately turn left and follow the cones/signals toward Door #1 (Grade 9) or Door #2 (Grade 10-12). To comply with physical distancing guidelines, students should remain in their cars as they drive up to the assigned distribution door where they will give their name and grade then wait for the delivery of their bag of books and materials.

Please come during your family's assigned time. This will help keep traffic under control.

  • Last names beginning with A - F: Monday, 8/31, 1 pm - 6 pm
  • Last names beginning with G - O: Tuesday, 9/1, 3pm - 7 pm

A Note About Schoology

We continue to be thrilled with what Schoology has to offer as a learning management platform for both our teachers and students. There have been technical issues for sure - Friday morning's videoconferencing outage perhaps being the most noticeable. In this state of virtual learning, these things will happen from time to time and we appreciate the patience and grace with which we all approach the problem. Teachers use Schoology as a communication tool for students, so when videoconferencing is not working, they will be posting in their classes to communicate with students what the next steps are. As a reminder, below is a link for how to access and troubleshoot Schoology (English and Spanish).

Arlington Career Center classes will start after Labor Day, on Tuesday, September 8. If your student is enrolled in an ACC class, they will not access that class until September 8. The Athletics Department is looking forward to getting our athletes back in training mode. Please read "Return to Play" from our Athletics Director, Coach Wooten. It has the information you need in order for your athlete to get back in shape as early as August 31.
