Bath Tech Newsletter

April 7, 2023
On Tuesday, April 4, Bath Tech welcomed several community members to its second annual Career Panel. Returning moderator, Jason Judd from Educate Maine led the event. Members of the panel included Police Chief Andrew Booth, Fire Department Deputy Chief, Chris Cummings, and local realtor and business owner Katie Winglass, among others. All members of the panel were asked about their career paths, the skills they found most valuable to their success, and key information they would like to share with graduating Bath Tech seniors.
Brandon Glazier, director at Bath Iron Works, shared that his company looks for strong leadership when hiring its employees, and Jeremy Dube echoed this sentiment, saying that a strong work ethic is vital to the work of he and his colleagues at Maine Health.
Former student, Maddie Thompson, now an employee at Fisher Plow, explained to the students that she herself was a hands on learner, and found joy in welding while she was at Bath Tech, which is what led her to her current position.
Thomas Sutherland of ACG Maine and Matthew Brackley of Brackley Electric both commented on their trade businesses, appealing to students who might be entering right into the workforce after graduation. Matthew Goodman, who is the Dean of Academic Excellence and Strategic Initiatives at the Maine Community Colleges empathized with students, saying that while the unknown is scary, there are lots of services at the community college level to make the transition from high school to postsecondary education less intimidating.
Bath Tech students and staff were incredibly grateful for all of the participants of this year’s Career Panel.
