As of this email, thanksgiving is 9 days away. Not sure what this holiday does to your soul - perhaps for many of you it's more stressful than relaxing, more logistics than rest, and more complaining than thanksgiving. For many of you students, this holiday can be forgotten in the background and what stands out more is a week off from school. I think all of this is fair though and this note isn't to guilt anyone or shame anyone but it also isn't to just let this moment slip past us.

There's a reason why God uses certain parts of the calendar. These big holidays are meant to bring people together, surround us in a common theme, and for the most part, allow us to take a break from the normal grind. Whether you're Christian or not, I think most people would line up with at least these concepts. But for the Christian, they see it as something more right? They see it as a something a good God puts into our worlds and reminds us of something bigger than just our jobs, our schools, and focuses our attention back on Him.

So CBC, here's my challenge for us as we approach the Thanksgiving week:

1. Be explicitly thankful to people. With your WORDS, tell someone why you are thankful for them.
2. Pray prayers of thanksgiving these next few weeks and prayers that center around being thankful for God's goodness, God's provision, and God's salvation.
3. Teach thanksgiving. Sounds silly but for you Christian, go and teach others how to be thankful, why to be thankful, and why it is so freeing to be a person of thanksgiving.

• We gather together as one church a few times a year and this is one of those times. CBC is more than just the English congregation and the youth ministry and so there needs to be times when we worship, learn, and celebrate together.
• 10:00-11:45am (No DGs)
• So originally we were going to baptize both Joshua Tolentino and Christian Lew, but Christian has a scouting trip so we're only baptizing Josh this Sunday. If you're a part of Josh's DG, please plan on being with him for the baptism behind the stage. Also, Josh's DG, baptism is the beginning of the journey so ya'll will play an integral part of helping him develop spiritually. Think through all that God has commanded for a follower and then apply those onto Josh and help him with it.

1. Publicize to family, friends, neighbors, etc. This is one of the only large-scale community events our youth group (and CBC) does throughout the year. Super chill and just a fun place to go and invite people to come hang out.
2. Help us get some donations for silent auction and online giveaways. Attached is our donation letter that you can print out and help us get some stuff. I'm also going to challenge your small group/dg/ministry to come together and donate something towards Java Jam as well.
3. Ask to help with a part of Java Jam - photo exhibit, decorations, food, cleanup, etc. Contact Admin, Justin, Robert, or Myra.

4. Adult Leadership Meeting: Dec. 1 (Come prepared with your thoughts on marriage, divorce, and remarriage)
