Meet Mrs. Overly
My husband, Jesse, and I moved our family from Atlanta to Ohio 14 years ago, looking to escape the hustle and bustle of a hectic life in the city for a simpler and quieter life on a small rural farm. As our children, Savannah and Jonah, discovered their love of horses and all things outdoors, we experimented over the years with raising chickens, cows, and goats and were very active in 4-H and Boy Scouts. Our oldest daughter, Hailey, moved to Mount Vernon with her family just a few years later and has blessed us with four grandchildren. Now that all our children are adults, and we are empty nesters, we have downsized our "herd" of animals on our farm to two cats and a border collie. They keep us busy enough!
Jesse and I love traveling together and have made trips in recent years to several national parks, including Acadia in Maine, Yellowstone and Teton in Wyoming, Rocky Mountain in Colorado, Grand Canyon in Arizona, and Zion in Utah. We also made a 2,500 mile trek from Illinois to Arizona along the famous "Route 66" highway, stopping at roadside diners and historical sites along the way. My favorite trip, however, has to be Scotland where we toured many of the old castles and quaint villages that were locations for filming the TV series "Outlander". I am a big fan!
When at home, I enjoy reading while sitting on my porch with my cats keeping me company, sewing on one of my many unfinished quilt projects, painting and patching up another project on our 120-year-old farmhouse, or occasionally playing Savannah's grand piano.
