On Friday April 21st, fourth grade took a trip to see Peter Pan the play. In preparation for the play students worked in three different groups, the groups were composed of those who have seen Peter Pan once, have never seen it and those who have seen it multiple times.
Students at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School (OLHMS) are participating in the school's annual Service Learning Day on April 28, volunteering their time and efforts to impact their community in a positive way. The activities throughout the day included volunteering at nearby parks, collecting food for a food drive, assisting at the local library, and visiting District 123 elementary schools to read to younger students.
IAR testing is complete! Students took the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) standardized Math and ELA tests during the week of April 11th. Students took three mathematics tests and two English Language Arts tests over a span of three days.
April 20,2023 was the annual Hannum Talent Show and the students definitely delivered. Three fifth graders hosted the show and did an amazing job! The show opened with a brave kindergartener saying The Pledge of Allegiance and singing "We Love Our Flag." Students of all ages then showed off their talents by singing, dancing, or playing musical instruments!
Kolmar students and staff really are wise! They are also extremely grateful to our PTA for allowing them the opportunity to show their wisdom through the game show, Wheel of Wisdom. Everyone had such a great time at our Wheel of Wisdom assembly.
Ms. Lettiere, Sward's 5th Grade Teacher, has a huge heart for St. Jude Hospital. St. Jude leads the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Sward's Kindness Club, sponsored by Mrs. Collura, and Ms. McCorry's Friendship Club teamed up together to support her mission.
Kindergarteners at Hometown Elementary enjoyed a beautiful day at Lake Katherine on April 18. The sun was shining on the lake, as these little ones explored all about Spring. The students were broken up into groups and explored "I Spy Spring!" stations.
Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is launching its 2023 Summer School Programs from June 12th to June 29th and July 10th to 13th at Kolmar School, offering a variety of educational and innovative enrichment classes for students in PreK-8th grade.
