High School SWAL Math Contest
Friday, April 14, #PointerNation's High School Math Team traveled to Southwestern for the annual SWAL Math Contest and came home with some medals!
Five students from each division compete both individually and as a team. Students take three individual tests as well as one team test. For the team contest, an individual average is calculated and the team test score is added to this average to get each division's overall score.
Our Pre-Calculus team with members Bobby Allbright, Julianna Cool, Charlie DaVee, Derek Hottenstein, and Regan Schuette were the team champions! Our Geometry and Advanced Algebra teams both came in second.
For individual awards, the highest score in each division receives a Gold, the second highest a Silver, and then up to six more students receive a Bronze out of the 40 in each division.
This year, 10 of our Mathletes earned these honors, including:
-- Algebra 1: Landyn Moellers, Gold and Jayden Johnson, Bronze
-- Geometry: Kalea Biddick, Bronze and Ethan Hook, Bronze
-- Advanced Algebra: Matthew Goninen, Bronze; Cole Hentrich, Bronze; and Anthony Luu, Bronze
-- Pre-Calculus: Bobby Allbright, Gold; Derek Hottenstein, Silver; and Regan Schuette, Silver
Great job, everyone!
