May is Mental Health Awareness Month

In honor of Mental Health Awareness month, the Orange County Department of Education Bullying Prevention Program will be hosting a virtual parent presentation focused on social media trends, information literacy, privacy and security, addressing and reporting cyberbullying, and parent/child communication.


Cyberbullying and Digital Drama: Keeping Kids Safe, Happy, and Healthy in the Digital Age will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. In our ever-changing world with a lot of time being spent on digital devices, it is important to keep the conversation going about what parents can do to support their children in the complex environment of online learning and socializing.

Frankie here! I’m this year’s Kids Heart Challenge tour guide and I need your help to lead the way to saving more lives! I am challenging all the students at Brookhaven to join the team and Be the Torch by being kind and helping others. When they join, they can also choose a daily challenge to BE KIND or MOVE MORE.

Heart Hero Team

Meet this year’s Heart Hero Team! Introducing Hearty, Breeze, Baxter, Marley, Hydro and Dream. Frankie is our tour guide and Finn is here to share Finn’s Mission again! Each heart hero will teach us how to keep our hearts and minds healthy and your student can collect them all. Download the Kids Heart Challenge mobile app to learn more, take Finn’s Mission, play fun games and go on a virtual field trip of the heart!

Finn's Mission

Have you met heart hero, Finn? He’s sharing Finn’s Mission to help us all help kids with special hearts – like him! He’s also set a goal to get 1.8 million families (in honor of the 18 procedures he has had) across the country to learn Hands-Only CPR. You can help by joining Finn’s Mission to learn this lifesaving skill. Plus, when your student completes all the missions, they’ll earn Finn’s Lifesavers Award! Finn’s Mission is on the free Kids Heart Challenge app.
