Weekly Hook
Week 19: Jan 6-10, 2019
90 Days!
I want to encourage you all to continue to keep focused on our goal of becoming an A school. This is more than a rating for us. It's more than a banner or a celebration. It is proof of all the hard work you all are doing. It's proof that our students can achieve at high academic levels. It's proof that when we work together as a team we can achieve great things.
As I've mentioned before, the iReady data shows that we are growing our students. These last 90 days are crucial to continue to grow them. We must keep providing standards-aligned rigorous lessons that challenge our students and push them. We have to keep strengthening relationships with students, even our most difficult ones - especially our most difficult ones. We all have great power to positively impact students' lives.
Let's finish these last 90 days strong, making every moment count. Continue to be awesome and amazing! As always, know that Mrs. Lewis and I are here to support you in every way possible.

As most of you all know, our very own Savannah Rishel was selected as Teacher of the Year for the Pass Christian School District. I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Rishel for the past 6 years and I have watched her grow professionally. This is a well deserved honor for her. She is dedicated and works hard to not only support her student’s academic needs, but also their social-emotional needs. She is patient and has the ability to talk calmly to her students in order to de-escalate them when behaviors flare-up.
Outside of the academic school day, Ms. Rishel has been loyally committed to organizing and running our football and basketball concession stands. Stocking and working the concession stand is more than just selling snacks for her. Ms. Rishel converses with all students as they come up and meets parents and siblings, developing relationships with families. Students that have moved up to the high school always stop by to see Ms. Rishel when they visit the middle school to get a hug and tell her about their accomplishments.
Ms. Rishel has been the co-sponsor of the PCMS student council for the past 7 years. She helps students develop leadership skills by working with them to do community service projects and various school activities.
On top of all this, Ms. Rishel is truly a positive person who always has a good outlook. She will readily take on extra assignments and duties with a smile on her face. Her professionalism, compassion, love of teaching, commitment, and perseverance make her well deserving of the honor to be Teacher of the Year for the Pass Christian School District.
