Happy 2022!
January 2022 Update
Presidents Message
Happy New Year (a little late for that, but it still works for the first newsletter of the year)!
I hope you all have had a happy winter so far. NCBCC has a very exciting year in 2022 and your board is already working to make these events great!
Given the weather so far, we’ve decided not to have any formal gatherings in January and February, but we hope to see you all in March and April. We’re still working through what we might do in March, but we have an action packed specialty weekend in April. If you, haven’t already heard, NCBCC is doing an exciting weekend of specialties and supported entries in Timonium, MD.
APRIL SHOWS (no showers, please)
Our traditional specialty weekend kicks off on 4/22, with Ulrica Olsson (SWE Farmarens) judging our specialty and Nicole Connor (TX Jenuwin) judging sweepstakes. On Saturday, 4/23, we’re supporting the entry at the Baltimore Kennel club show with Ken Carroll judging, and we will offer Sweepstakes, judged by Megan Connor (TX Jenuwin). Sunday, 4/24, we’re hosting another specialty, judged by Michele RItter (PA Britannia) with sweepstakes judged by Jack Szalka (MI AfterDark). So - 3 sweepstakes, 2 specialties, 1 supported entry and SIX breeder-judges! We will be indoors this year and there is a COVID safety protocol in place. Please join us!
2022 Calendar
Our 2022 calendar is still under development, we expect to host our specialities in April and our agility trial in October, along with the National Specialty in Virginia Beach 10/9-15/2022. If you haven’t made arrangements to join us for these events, please reach out and we’ll give you the info that you need. Otherwise, our calendar is still under development. If you’d like to host an event, please let us know. Last year members hosted events like bounces, meetings, Fastcat and dock diving intros, and other fun things to do with your beardies and the people who love them. So, let us know if you have an idea.
2022 BCCA National Specialty
Plans are underway for the 2022 National Specialty show. This year it’s all about the double-double, with 2 days of herding, 2 days of agility, 2 specialty shows (local and national), 2 sweepstakes, Rally&Obedience. Our host hotel is the Founders Inn in Virginia Beach, VA. Site of many other national specialties, this facility has great fenced areas for running dogs and plenty of grounds for walking. We’re very excited to put on this event and can always use help! If you’d like to help out, please let us know. We’d love to have you!
Also, we’re doing a site visit for committee and local club members on 2/18-20, including a tour of the sites where we can show you what we think will happen in which rooms and you can get a feel for the venue. We are also planning a meal at the hotel. The booking link is below. Please let Casey or Laura know if you plan to come.
2022 Fundraising
It takes a village and a bit of funding to host a national specialty and we’re fortunate to have had a couple of great fundraisers already under our belt. Linda Porter - your host for the 2022 National Specialty agility trials - is currently running a fundraiser and it’s open to anyone. Please see www.bcca2022.com/fundraising to get your tickets.
