In celebration of Black History Month, students researched the lives of notable African Americans throughout history and created a Quilt of Heroes.

This month, I had the honor of collaborating with Mrs. Redding as the students researched the earth's system's interactions and with Mrs. Smith as her students researched plant and animal life cycles. The students loved sharing their facts with Dr. Jeter.

To coincide with the birthday of Dr. Seuss (March 2nd), also known as Read Across America Day, Magnolia Elementary took part in Magnolia Celebrates Reading Week. Each day centered on a specific Dr. Seuss book: Monday (Green Eggs and Ham), Tuesday (Fox in Socks), Wednesday (Wacky Wednesday), Thursday (Oh, the Places You'll Go!), and Friday (The Cat in the Hat). Thank you to students and families for bringing copies of these books to school to share.

Students had the honor of having community leaders read to them throughout the week. Thank you to our cafeteria ladies for preparing Green Eggs & Ham, to Mrs. Bivens for helping coordinate the Reading Week Celebration, and to Dr. Jeter for supporting reading, not just during this week, but all through the year!

Many thanks to the Trussville City Schools Foundation for its generous donation of $1,000. The Magnolia Elementary Library was the recipient of these funds as part of the TCS Foundation MUSH Grant. These funds will be utilized to purchase Braille books.
