Principal Corner
- November is the month of being thankful. We encourage you to write and/or have your child write a note/draw a picture for someone in their life that has been a positive role model. This might be a family member, school staff member, or someone outside the home. Let's spread love this Thanksgiving season.
- Picture retakes will be on Friday, November 12th. All new students and those who were absent on picture day will take a photograph.
- Red Door in Tontitown is hosting a Young Elementary night on Tuesday. 10% of the food proceeds go to Young Elementary. Join us!
- We raised over $400 for Shop with a Cop. Thank you for supporting our local police department.

Notes from the Counselor- Empathy
November’s character word is empathy. Empathy is being able to understand how someone else is feeling. At the end of the month, each teacher will be choosing one student from their class who will receive a character award for showing empathy.

Practice It!
Help your child practice considering the needs of others. When you are watching TV or reading books, ask your child what he/she thinks the characters are feeling, and what they might need in that situation. What could you say or do to help that person?
Talk About It!
What does it mean to be empathetic and why is it important?
Is it easy or difficult for you to have empathy for others?
Tell me about a time when you were empathetic towards someone else.
Tell me about a time when someone else was empathetic towards you.
What would the world be like if people considered the feelings of others more often?
How can you tell how someone else may be feeling?
How can you tell what someone else may need?
