Need to talk to the school counselor: Virtual Check-in Request
As you probably already know Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an important part of your child's education. At Boone we aim to provide social emotional learning opportunities every day. Depending on your child's class, this may look like morning meetings, mindfulness strategies, reading social emotional learning books, and peace areas.
With that said, every child at Boone receives weekly Second Step lessons from their classroom teacher. Every child also receives biweekly counseling lessons from the school counselor. Therefore, I want to provide you with some SEL opportunities while we are far apart that include Second Step access as well as the learning opportunities I was going to give grades PK-5th. This week will include PK-2nd grade lessons with 3rd-5th grade lessons the following week. Lessons will be updated in the weekly counselor newsletter and on BLEND.
Please feel free to contact me if your child or family needs resources, support, or assistance throughout our virtual time together.
Sincerely,
Nicole Lozo

How to Access Second Step Resources as a Family
We've contacted Second Step to learn more, and thankfully, they've provided us with the following information that we wanted share. To begin, depending on what grade level your child is in, there is an activation code to use when you access resources at Second Step. Below are the codes and directions to use.
K-5 Family Activation Codes:
Kindergarten: SSPKFAMILY70
Grade 1: SSP1FAMILY71
Grade 2: SSP2FAMILY72
Grade 3: SSP3FAMILY73
Grade 4: SSP4FAMILY74
Grade 5: SSP5FAMILY75
Here are some instructions for parents to access those resources:
- Go to https://www.secondstep.org/create-account
- Enter your email address and create a password
- For Job title, select "Parent"
- Enter your State, city, and select your student's school
- Note: if you do not see your student's school listed, please scroll to the bottom of the drop-down menu and select "My school/organization is not listed"
- Enter your family activation key under "Product activation key"
- Navigate to "My Dashboard"
- Find your student's grade level, under SEL Program, Click on "Resources"
- Click "READ MORE" under the category of your choosing
To view supporting Lesson Materials (not the actual lesson content) that Teachers & Counselors use:

- Below that tab, a blue bar with several options will appear
- Hover over "Downloads" and click on "Lesson Materials"
