FES Monthly Update
May
Principal Message
FES Families,
As we kick off the last full month of the 2022-2023 school year, May is a time to show true appreciation for all of those that have made this school year a successful one. There is a week in May that is always dedicated to Teacher/Staff Appreciation, and at FES we fill our classrooms with top notch educators that go above and beyond each day.
Next week May 8-12, our teachers will be showered with gratitude and appreciation.
We will kick off the week with a "Chalk the Walk." On Sunday (5/7) afternoon from 2:00-3:00 p.m., you are welcome to bring some sidewalk chalk and write a message of appreciation for your favorite teacher(s) and staff members on the sidewalks near the school. I will be on campus during that time, but all children must be supervised during their time. I hope to see you here and don't forget some chalk!
Throughout the week, I encourage your child to draw/color a picture of a sun and write a kind message to the teachers and staff they work the closest and thank them for helping us "Shine SO Bright!" When the messages get brought into the building, the students can turn them into the office, or give them to their teachers to be hung outside their classroom.
Sunshine Template- This can be used for the students to color if a template is needed.
As the week continues, PTO is planning ways to celebrate the staff at FES. When I joined the FES staff in January, people have asked me what my favorite part is, and my answer has been and continues to be "the people." The people that fill our building are some of the most genuine, kind, and gracious people that I have met. They put their all in each day and always keep our children at the forefront of everything that they do. I am so appreciative of the staff at FES this month and every month!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Kali McKenna
Thank you Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Maxwell, and Mrs. Hall!

Here is some key information from our PTO:
- We need parent volunteers to hold this event. Each volunteer slot is approximately three hours. Class schedule is listed within the sign up genius here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080844ADAC2DA3F85-dayofawesomeness
- Each student will need to bring an extra socks to school on June 5th to change into for the event.
- This event is weather dependent - due to safety it can't be held if there is inclement weather including high winds. We will be watching the weather closely, and will communicate any changes in a timely manner.
