LCS Bond Program Update
Multipurpose Building
Linden Community Schools has received temporary occupancy of the Multipurpose Building. Temporary occupancy gives LCS the opportunity to begin using the building. We are anticipating that final occupancy will be given once all of the punch list items have been completed and the final top coating of the asphalt is applied for the Multipurpose Building parking area and service drive.
The building is not 100% complete. We have some furnishings, such as fitness equipment, protective netting for the track, areas where additional protective mating is needed, etc., that still need to be installed. While the final punch list items are being completed, Debbie Brindle, Community Education Director, will be putting a schedule together. This schedule will be designed to allow usage of the facility, but in a manner that will allow the final items/projects to be completed. The building will not be 100% operational until all project pieces are completed.
We are incredibly excited that we are in the final stages and anticipate that the Multipurpose Building will be a valued resource to our students, staff, and community.
Linden High School
Preliminary logistics are being finalized as we prepare for Phase II of the LCS Bond Program. The north end of Linden High School (classrooms) will be the focal point for this summer’s work.
Additional LCS Bond Program information and continuous updates can be found on the LCS Bond Infromation webpage.
LCS Strategic Plan Survey 2023
As we move forward, your voice and feedback is important to the continued success of our district. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey to help us determine the impact our Strategic Plan is having on the Linden Community School District. Your feedback will help LCS continue to grow and strive to stay true to its Mission Statement, "to educate, nurture, and develop all learners to be self-directed and to strive for excellence with confidence and integrity by working cooperatively with students, staff, parents, and community."
The survey will be open from April 5, 2023, to April 28, 2023.

Central Elementary adds a Therapy Friend
We are excited to announce that Central Elementary has added a new staff member! She is an Australian Labradoodle named Belle! Belle has worked hard to complete an extensive training program to become a certified therapy dog and joined Central Elementary. on April 3rd.
Research has shown that therapy dogs support psychological and academic growth while increasing social skills, self-esteem and school attendance in children. Therapy dogs have been trained to provide emotional support, which positively impacts reading skills, emotional functioning and communication skills. In addition, the use of therapy dogs may decrease anxiety and improve self-esteem in students.
Staff members will be able to invite Belle into their classrooms for brief or longer visits, she will be available for one-on-one time with students, and will attend special Central Elementary or Linden Schools' events. Student interaction with Belle is completely voluntary and is based on student comfort. Therapy dogs have proven to be very successful in schools, and we are excited to see the impact Belle is going to make at Central Elementary.
Belle is the fifth therapy friend that has joined the LCS staff. Hyatt Elementary and Argentine Early Childhood Center have a therapy dog, and Linden Middle School has two therapy dogs.
