The Weekly Buzz π
From Palmer River Elementary School

February 9, 2024
Dear Palmer River Elementary School Community,
This week, we honored students who received awards for demonstrating RESPONSIBILITY throughout January. The featured students exemplified RESPONSIBILITY by consistently doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. They actively addressed and rectified any wrongdoing they witnessed, admitted mistakes, and proved themselves trustworthy and dependable. Additionally, RESPONSIBILITY was manifested in taking care of personal well-being and belongings.
Our staff diligently selects students each month who embody the designated mindset, in an effort to celebrate their achievements. Morning announcements spotlight the monthly mindset, offering examples of its application. This practice aligns with our district's Portrait of A Graduate and the Future Ready pillar. Refer to the graphic below illustrating the six pillars of the Portrait of a Graduate. Congratulations to our students for showcasing exceptional RESPONSIBILITY! Your achievements make us immensely proud!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Dr. Cheryl Leandro, Assistant Principal

Entering and Exiting our School Grounds
It has been brought to our attention that drivers are passing school busses while on school grounds. This is extremely dangerous and can have serious consequences. Please remember it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus. As always, it is important to be cautious and attentive when driving on school property.

Complete Permissions in Aspen
Please make sure to log into your child's Aspen account and make sure that you have given appropriate permissions. For example, there are many parents/guardians who have not checked the box to approve their child being part of the yearbook. Please check this at your earliest convience as we wouldn't want anyone to miss out.
Coats at School
We are sharing ths message again - it is very important for students to have coats, gloves, hats, etc. for outdoor play during these cold winter months. We try to have outdoor recess each and every day, unless the temp outside is below 32 degrees.

Student Teacher Bios
We have several student teachers working at PRES this year. Please find a brief bio below for a few of our newest team members at PRES. If you are in the building and see them, be sure to say hi!
Hi! My name is Sarah McSherry. Iβm an early education major, and senior at Wheaton College, over in Norton. I'm here at Palmer River to complete my student teaching, and I know Iβm going to learn so much. I am from Portland, Maine, and I have two sisters, and lots of pets! Some things I love to do are crocheting, listening to music, skiing, going to the beach, and doing arts and crafts. I love traveling, though I havenβt done much of it yet, and I love to spend as much time outdoors as I can. I'm so excited to spend my spring here at Palmer River!
Hey everyone! My name is Julianne Martel. I am in my third year finishing up my credits at Bristol Community College to get my associates degree. Aside from school, I love to be active outside especially in warm weather, whether it is going to the beach, or going outside with my dog. I have been working with young children and babysitting since the beginning of high school. Every day I love working and teaching children more and more. I am in Ms. Jefferson's kindergarten classroom at Palmer River where I am obtaining so much knowledge and learning new skills in order to be the best teacher I can be and to help children grow. I am so thankful to be given this opportunity by the school district who has allowed me to experience what goes on in classrooms every day. I am so excited to continue working in her classroom, and it has been a wonderful experience so far!
