A Note from the Principal

Dear Families,

As the holiday season has quickly arrived, I've taken time to reflect on all the blessings so far this year. I'm grateful to be part of the CES community and am blessed to have the opportunity to expand my professional family. There is much to be thankful for and I look forward to what more there is to come as we approach the second half of the year. I hope you are able to take time over the winter break to reflect on your blessings. Wishing you a happy holiday!

Welcome Danielle Scarbrough

With the transfer of Mrs. Susan Welch to UES, we have acquired a new secretary for the remainder of this year. We are excited to welcome Danielle Scarbrough to the CES staff. Mrs. Scarbrough brings a wealth of experience with her most recent position being from Kemptown Elementary. Welcome Mrs. Scarbrough!

STEAM Night

Save The Date for STEAM Night

(Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)

Please join us for Centerville Elementary’s STEAM Night on January 23, 2020 from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Some of the evening activities planned:

We will be talking about science fair projects.
Students will have the opportunity to gather ideas to develop a science fair project.
Other activities will be available to explore all of the concepts of STEAM.

Look for more information to be shared toward the beginning of January.

Dr. Martin Luther King Representative

Congratulations to fifth grader, Ayza Baqai for being selected to represent CES as the FCPS Martin Luther King Representative. Ayza will be honored at the 30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Celebration on January 9th. Students are selected for this great honor based on their consistent demonstration of leadership qualities and the Pillars of Character Counts. We are proud of Ayza's accomplishments!

Opportunity

Urbana High School student, Gabriella Papillo is excited to share an opportunity to our CES students and families. She is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award "Music Matters" and has organized an event on Sunday, January 12. Please see the flyers below for more information.
