Picture Retakes
6th Grade English Class
Students in the grade seven digital media class, “Lights! Camera! Action!,” became familiar with how a filmmaker uses camera angles to control the information presented to the audience. To explore how the position of the lens impacts the story, students took pictures of various locations around the campus while adjusting their cameras to capture unique points of view. Future studies will combine camera angles with motions and sound effects. Stay tuned!

Winter Sports
Dear Log College Families,
Winter Sports season is quickly approaching here at Log College. The Winter sports season runs from November through February and features four sports open to our 7th and 8th-grade students. Log College will be offering Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, and Cheerleading. We are pleased to announce that, for the first time (if enough students try out), we will have Junior Varsity (JV) teams for both boys and girls basketball, providing more students with the opportunity to participate in winter sports. It's important to note that these are not exclusively 7th or 8th-grade teams but are composed of a mix of both grades.
If your child is planning to participate in any of these sports, he/she must have a physical. No student may play or practice until a physical has been received.
PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).
If you have already played a sport in the Fall, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.
If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.
If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)

A Message from the School Nurse regarding lice:
Head lice do not pose a health hazard, are not responsible for the spread of disease, and are not a sign of uncleanliness.
Check your child’s head for lice on a weekly basis. Because head lice are usually
transmitted by head to head contact, parents should carefully check a child’s head before and after attending a sleepover or camp where children share sleeping quarters.
The first sign of lice is always itching. When you notice that your child is itching have them sit in a well-lit area and look for an oval shaped “nit” or egg along the hairline. Nits stick to the hair and are not easily removed. If you have any questions about what you are looking for please feel free to call the nurse’s office for guidance.
Remind children to never share hats, coats, combs, headphones, to play with each other’s hair or have any close head contact “SELFIES”.
As with all health issues, please keep the school nurse informed. Visit our website or call the Nurse’s Office for additional information, available resources, or individual questions.
