Last Week of School
It doesn't seem possible that this is the last week of school! It has been wonderful getting to know your children this year. I love serving as Principal and being part of the TeSA family. I would like to thank all of our amazing teachers and staff, and especially you! We couldn't do what we do without your support, and I am grateful for the way we have all come together to learn and grow this year.
We have a lot of exciting things happening during these last four days of school and even more coming when we start back in August. This newsletter is full of important information to make sure you have a successful week and transition into the 2021-2022 school year. Thank you for reading through each section and reaching out if you have any questions.
To all of our 5th & 6th grade families, or those whose lives are taking a different path, you will be missed. I hope to still see you at performances and events in the future! To those of you returning, get ready for an exciting year in which our students will shine as TeSA STARS!
Artistically & Academically Yours,
Betsy Compton, M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed

2021 Summer Assignments
It's important that all of our TeSA students keep learning over the summer! Our teachers are finalizing summer assignments this week and each grade's work will be public on our website by June 1st. All students will have required assignments to keep learning over the summer break. If you're looking for even more educational experiences this summer try our TeSA Summer Family Challenge.
TeSA Summer Family Challenge
1. Cook a meal together. Help your child read the recipe and make all of the measurements. Talk about what you would need to do to double it or cut it in half.
2. Read a book together. Take turns reading aloud. Stop after each chapter to make predictions about what will happen next.
3. Visit a museum. Many museums are still offering virtual tours as well. Talk about what you see, compare and contrast exhibits, and decide what your family would add if you were in charge of a brand new wing.
4. Play games in the car. Whether you're taking a cross country trip or just driving around town, use your time in the car to read, count, and explore. Who can find all the letters to their name in road signs? Who identifies 10 yellow cars first? How long does it take to sit at a stoplight? Make it up as you go and ask the kids to create some of the categories.

2021-2022 After School Care
COVID Protocols
On Friday, May 17th, we emailed a survey to gather family feedback regarding 2021-2022 COVID Protocols. Although the decision regarding masking is now made state-wide, if you have not already, please click HERE to provide feedback regarding virtual options.
In case you missed the communication regarding the changes in masking, here's the letter from President & CEO, Mr. Gravley emailed Tuesday:
Dear TCA+A Faculty, Staff, Parents, Guardians, and Students,
Today, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-36. Part of the order reads:
…public schools may continue to follow policies regarding the wearing of face coverings to the extent reflected in current guidance by the Texas Education Agency until June 4, 2021. The Texas Education Agency shall revise its guidance such that, effective 11:59 p.m. on June 4, 2021, no student, teacher, parent, or other staff member or visitor may be required to wear a face covering.
You can read the full order HERE.
At this time, FWAFA, TeSA, and the conservatories all plan to keep all current safety protocols, including mask-wearing, through June 4, 2021. If we are required to change our polices or procedures before June 4 due to further guidance from the Texas Education Agency or our TCA+A Board, we will alert all families and employees immediately. We encourage everyone in our buildings to approach the pandemic with caution by continuing to use social distancing when possible, self-monitor for symptoms, and reach out to our campus nurses with any concerns.
We want nothing more than for those children in our care to be as safe as possible, whether that be at school, in a conservatory, or at a performance. Thank you for your tenacity, care, and dedication. We are thankful for each of you and your students.
