Tuesday Notice

Dear Siskiyou School Parents,

I hope this day finds you all well. Yesterday, I sent out a letter with tuition reduction updates from the Board, and a link to the survey. The survey will stay open until tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26th, at 4 pm. The link to the survey can be found HERE….and down below. Please complete one answer per child in your family. Many Thanks to the many families who have already completed the survey; we so appreciate your input as we work on the last details for the schedule.

On Friday we will send out more information around class schedules, the learning cohorts (groupings of 10 students) for each class, and details around health & safety protocol on campus including cleaning/handwashing/classroom procedures.

Each class teacher is looking forward to seeing the children for a moment in the classroom before the first day of school; please see that sign-up link in the office section.

We are moving forward slowly, but surely, towards September 8th to welcome the children back to school. We know that being together as a community will make all this hard work worthwhile!

The reason it is so important to hear from you this week is to finilizae our schedules, form our groups of 10, and know whether we can admit more children who are on the waitlist.

The schedule below is a first step – a secure plan to land the first month of school. Once we start school in September, we will be looking at ways to develop and enhance the on-campus and remote programs amid the ongoing updates.

• In addition to the schedule presented will be enrichment opportunities provided in September through the recently adopted CANVAS program. These may include specialty class contributions, meaningful projects, and creative endeavors for those wanting to supplement the work for their children.
• We are working on incorporating Ohana for classes 2-4 into the September schedule.
• Groups of 10 co-horts and final schedules will be sent on Friday (all are subject to change).
  

The Board has made a couple of adjustments to the Tuition Amendments that were sent yesterday. Please use the below diagram as your reference to the tuition changes for this school year. Please note that tuition amounts after October are subject to change.

This is a friendly reminder that tuition must be paid in full before your child can resume classes on September 8th. As a reminder, you can pay by cash, check, or set-up a recurring payment with a credit card with Cynthia (as a note, there is roughly a 3% fee that applies to all credit card transactions).

Teachers are looking forward to welcoming each student to the classroom to reconnect after a long summer. Please pick a time that will work for your family. Make sure kids arrive on campus with masks.

If you'd like to check in with your teacher via ZOOM, please email your teacher directly to arrange a time.

For parents of students in classes 5-8, please look for an email with the supply list from your teacher by the end of the week.

The next three Fridays we are opening campus for our Family Work Parties! Please join us as we work to get the campus ready for the start of school. This Friday, from 9 am - 1 pm, we invite families to campus to help with weeding, sweeping, unpacking supplies, working in the Glendale yard, and much more. We will have tools, buckets, brooms, and popsicles ready for your arrival. Please stop by the front office, or catch us on the woodchips, and we will let you know where help is needed.

Thank you to the families that joined us last week! We look forward to seeing you this Friday. Please feel free to come at any time between 9 am - 1 pm.

We will make sure that physical distancing will be respected; and masks need to be worn if that is not attainable. Thank you!

We have dedicated a section of our website to keep families and community members up to date on the Siskiyou School's plan to reopen and provide information on the current guidelines due to COVID-19. You can find our school's current plan (which will be updated with changes as they happen), the operational blueprint provided to the ODE, all past emails that have been sent from the Administration and the Board, and many additional details.

This section of the website is a good place to stay up to date during the moving parts of this year. We will update it as soon as we have more information. You may also share this with other community members who may have questions about the Siskiyou School's 2020- 2021 reopening plan.

There are families in our community who will need an extra computer for their two-three kids at home. If anyone has extra machines at home that they could lend or donate to the school for other families to use, please contact Kristin in the office.
