Gloversville High School Counseling Center Newsletter
Greetings
Gloversville High School Community,
Happy 2022! This week concludes our midterm week. We hope you knocked your exams out of the park :) Grades will be finalized and distributed for the 2nd quarter on Friday February 4th. Just a reminder, if students are failing any courses they will be moved into a Supported Study Hall for additional academic support. With the mid year concluding, we have approximately 84 school days left for this year. How do you plan to finish the year? What can you do to improve your grades? Please feel free to stop in and speak with your counselor about what steps you can take to ensure you pass for the year. In an effort to "Own Your Education", reach out to the supports you have to keep you on the path to graduation!
Looking Ahead
In the month of February, the school counselors will be making visits to Social Citizenship to help Juniors begin the college search and explore a variety of career opportunities. We will also make visits to Mrs. Sira's 12th grade English classes to ensure seniors have sound plans for life after GHS. We look forward to seeing you in class!
Sincerely,
Mrs. D'Arcy (A-Di)
Ms. Blowers (Do-K)
Ms. Burgraff (L-R)
Mrs. Autilio (S-Z)
Mrs. Kilmartin, Counseling Center Secretary
Mrs. Comeau, Counseling Center Intern
Thank you, Mr. Martin!
A special "Thank You" to Mr. Martin for all of the guidance and knowledge he has provided to our students over his 30.5 years teaching at GHS. He can remember back to Gloversville before SUPA, as he introduced it here his second year of teaching. Mr. Martin has always been such a valuable resource to us all but especially for our senior students during the college application process. His kind-hearted nature, sense of humor and passion for academics and athletics will be irreplaceable at GHS. Not sure we will be able to find a more experienced (two decades) or dedicated MasterMinds coach than Mr. Martin.
We will miss him dearly in the Counseling Center as he sails off into retirement this weekend!
Thank you, Mr. Martin, for everything!

Counseling Center Intern
Hi everyone!
My name is Tiffany Comeau. I am currently completing a school counseling internship in the Career and Counseling Center as a graduate student from St. Bonaventure University. Some of you may have seen me here a little bit before Christmas break when I was completing my practicum. I am happy to say, I have moved onto my internship and will be here every day for most of this semester. Prior to pursing a master’s degree in school counseling, I was a probation officer at the Fulton County Probation Department. As a probation officer, I worked with adults and juveniles. My work in probation helped me realize that I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to work with students toward success, in a helping capacity, rather than in a criminal justice capacity which only allowed me to get involved after an individual had police contact. My hope is to be a support to the students I work with and help them in the pursuit of their goals. I am very excited to be here and want to thank everyone in the Career and Counseling Center and at GHS for welcoming me.
