Two regular faces in the poker world were notably absent from a popular, long-running tournament, and PokerStars is again experiencing technical difficulties during events.

A few days ago, as the Poker Masters was getting started, Daniel Negreanu noticed that Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler were absent. It was a little surprising, given that both have been regular fixtures at big-ticket tournaments.

Negreanu forecast on Twitter that the two players wouldn’t arrive, and he was right. Poker Masters organizer PokerGO later confirmed that it had suspended the two grinders over cheating allegations.

In a press release, the PokerGo Tour (PGT) announced “the indefinite suspensions of Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler, effective immediately. The suspensions will extend through at least the 2022 PGT season, at which point a review will take place.”

For now, the suspensions will run through the end of the year. This is the first major poker circuit to take action against the two embattled pros.

Neither has publicly addressed the allegations, adding to the suspicion that they’re guilty. After Schindler won his WSOP bracelet last summer, he refused to discuss the subject when the media approached him for comments.

No Room for Cheaters

Imsirovic and Schindler have caused an uproar in the poker community. Multiple players have accused the pair of colluding in live poker tournaments and using real-time assistance (RTA) tools in online tourneys to game the system.

Both players are among the best tournament grinders in the world. Before the cheating accusations, Negreanu had dubbed Schindler one of today’s best players. The two have combined earnings of about $53 million in live tournaments, according to the Hendon Mob.

Last year, Imsirovic, one of the favorites to top this year’s PGT leaderboard, won 14 major tournaments. He also earned the GPI and PokerGO Tour Player of the Year awards.

PokerStars had become a target of a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. Someone, or some group, deliberately sabotaged the day’s events, leaving the poker platform with egg on its face and thousands of players more than a little frustrated.

DDoS attacks are relatively common occurrences – in the second quarter, there were 78,558 attacks globally, according to Kaspersky. There are plenty of tools and sites available that make launching one simple.

It’s unclear as to what tools Flutter has in place to counter a DDoS attack. While PokerStars indicated that there was no breach and it didn’t lose customer data, the forced shutdown was still embarrassing.

Exit News reports that sports industry stakeholders are petitioning the Albanian government for change. They hope to convince the Balkan country to reverse its ban in order to attract new revenue.

The country’s legal world came to a halt in January 2019. All forms of online gaming stopped, as did land-based betting. Although Albania’s government maintains strict control over its internet access, illegal platforms have still been operational.

Time To Right a Wrong

The stakeholders explained in their letter that, with the ban, the government is missing out on revenue that it desperately needs. They feel the decision to implement the prohibition moved the country in the wrong direction, and that it’s time to make things right.

If Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama were to have a change of heart, the stakeholders would help draft new regulations. Among the stipulations would be guaranteed revenue for the advancement of athletes and sports. Currently, most Olympic-bound athletes have to train outside of Albania and receive no financial support.

Rama, a former basketball player, helped push the gambling ban into place. He garnered significant support in the Socialist Party, of which he’s a member, to ensure the legislation survived.

Genius Sports Continues to Add New Ground

Genius Sports signed another expanded partnership deal this month. A week ago, it announced that bet365 would take advantage of its game streaming services, building on a three-year-old relationship.

BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, and FanDuel combined to accept $603.1 million in wagers from the start of sports betting on Jan. 8 through last Sunday. The Commission plans to announce figures on a weekly basis with the week ending on the previous Sunday.

Of that total, the four sportsbooks reported gross gaming revenues of $48.2 million.

New York taxes mobile sports betting operators at 51 percent. That’s based on the proposals the Gaming Commission received from applicants last year.

BetMGM went live last Monday. BallyBET, PointsBet, Resorts World Bet, and Wynn Interactive await clearance from the Gaming Commission to launch.

According to data from GeoComply, nearly 880,000 New Yorkers set up sports betting accounts during the first 10 days of operation. The overwhelming majority of those users are first-timers in a regulated marketplace.

NY Sports Betting By the Numbers

New York’s numbers were expected to be high simply based on the fact it’s currently the largest state, by population, to offer mobile sports betting, and it’s also one of the largest state economies in the country.

Putting New York’s numbers in perspective, New Jersey – which competes with Nevada for sports betting bragging rights – reported sportsbook revenues of $59 million for the entire month of December.

Speaking of New Jersey, New York’s neighbor needed two years to generate a monthly handle exceeding $600 million.

From a tax revenue perspective, New York took in more taxes in nine days than Pennsylvania’s 36 메이저토토사이트 percent tax has generated for that state in any one month of the 2022 fiscal year so far.

Caesars is the King of New York, So Far

So far, according to Gaming Commission data, Caesars Sportsbook is the king of New York’s sports betting apps.

For the first nine days of operation, the Caesars app generated a handle of $257.7 million and winnings of $22.7 million.

FanDuel reported a handle of $200.3 million since launching on Jan. 8. The Flutter Entertainment sports betting operator took in revenues of $14.1 million.

DraftKings received $134.4 million in wagers and claimed $10.9 million in revenues.

BetRivers, operated by Rush Street Interactive, had a handle of $10.6 million and revenues of $446,696.

Shares of Paysafe Ltd. (NYSE:PSFE) are rallying Monday. That’s after the provider of digital payments services said it’s now 먹튀검증사이트 processing payments for sportsbook operators in Louisiana and Oregon.

That new market access for the fintech company comes about because of prior relationships with Caesars Entertainment (Louisiana) and DraftKings (Louisiana and Oregon). In midday trading, Paysafe is higher by more than 4% on news of the new market entries. Paysafe has longstanding, multi-state payments partnerships with both gaming companies.

Paysafe’s entry into the Oregon and Louisiana sports-betting markets sees the company now supporting sportsbook operators with payments and affiliate marketing in 20 states plus Washington, DC,” according to a statement issued by the company.

Sports betting is currently live and legal in 30 states and Washington, DC.

Paysafe Could Love Louisiana

Louisiana is a recent entrant 먹튀검증 to the regulated sports wagering market in the US. But the southern state could be a fertile opportunity for payments processors, such as Paysafe.

Prior to legalizing sports wagering, the state was the fifth-largest gaming market in the country, and data indicates it’s off to a fast start with sports betting. Sports wagering at Louisiana brick-and-mortar locations debuted in the fourth quarter, with BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, and FanDuel recently rolling out mobile apps in the state. Data confirms the state’s mobile debut is a success, with the number of transactions topping those in some larger states while comparing favorably with New York on a per capita basis.

Citing the American Gaming Association, Paysafe says Louisiana could be a $5.1 billion sports betting market when it reaches maturity.

“Paysafe is also optimizing Louisiana sportsbook customer conversions through the affiliate software of Income Access. Several Louisiana sportsbook operators, including Caesars Entertainment for its Caesars Sportsbook, are using the Income Access affiliate platform to track their affiliate programs,” according to the statement.

Oregon, Too

Last month, DraftKings became Oregon Lottery’s exclusive sportsbook provider, paving the way for PaySafe to enter that state as well. In that state, bettors can fund DraftKings Sportsbook accounts through the operator’s connection to Paysafe’s payment gateway. BetMGM, one of the largest iGaming and online sportsbook operators in the US, announced today it’s accepting sports wagers in Illinois.

The news arrives as the already thriving regulated sports betting market in the sixth-largest state is waiving its in-person registration requirement. That means bettors don’t have to go to a land-based casino to be eligible to place wagers via computers and mobile phones.

This launch marks a significant milestone for BetMGM as we enter one of the country’s biggest sports betting markets,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt in a statement.

BetMGM is a 50/50 joint venture of MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) and Entain Plc (OTC:GMVHY). Illinois is the 22nd market the operator entered, and in those states, the company usually leads in terms of internet casino market share (in states where that’s allowed) and is among the top three for online sports betting share.

Fresh off its January debut in New York, BetMGM’s launch in Illinois is relevant to industry analysts and investors. That’s because the company has an established record of iGaming and sports wagering leadership in nearby Michigan.

Good Timing for BetMGM

Indicating that BetMGM has some impeccable timing regarding its Illinois entry, the state’s in-person registration mandate is no longer in effect as of today.

That could open the floodgates in a state that generated a handle of nearly $9 billion in less than two years of regulated sports betting. When Illinois initially went live with sports betting on March 9, 2020, the state rolled out an 18-month waiting period for online operators, such as DraftKings and FanDuel, to give land-based casino operators a head start.

Those internet operators skirted that mandate by applying their brands to local casinos. Later, as the state faced budget woes owing to the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) waived the in-person registration requirement to boost revenue.

He again implemented it last April amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in the state. Even with the on-again, off-again live registration mandate, Illinois ascended the ranks of states by sports betting handle, placing fourth as of the end of 2021.

Good Timing Part II

Based on the $8.9 billion as of Dec. 31, 2021 — the period for which data are most recently available — adults in Illinois are wagering $9,341 a minute on sports, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Alone, that point confirms the allure 토토사이트 of Illinois to gaming operators. But further cementing the notion that BetMGM’s timing is excellent is the fact that the NCAA Tournament — annually one of the most wagered-on sporting events in the US — starts on March 13.

Wynn Resorts Senior VP and Treasurer Vincent Zahn provided insights into how its digital unit is being promoted. He was appearing before the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) to discuss the company’s application for a delayed public offering.

Zahn told the state that the overly competitive sports betting marketplace has rendered traditional advertising costs unreasonable.

Zahn explained that Wynn Interactive, which oversees the company’s WynnBet sports betting and interactive gaming division, is no longer aggressively marketing in the emerging gaming verticals. Instead, the Wynn executive said the organization is engaging in affiliate customer acquisition models.

We cut back on media spending and we shifted the business … to more of an affiliate-based customer acquisition model,” Zahn said, as first reported by CDC Gaming Reports.

Zahn concluded that traditional advertising for sports betting and iGaming products currently presents an “irrational” cost of customer acquisition.

WynnBet is operational in nine states — Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Virginia.

“Affiliate marketing creates mutually beneficial relationships between companies and their affiliates, and significantly reduces the cost of customer acquisition,” explained LeadDyno, an affiliate marketing firm that is primarily focused on e-commerce.

Capital Savings

Wynn Interactive spent $100 million in the third quarter of 2021 on customer acquisitions. The firm reduced that amount to $80 million in the final three months of the year.

Zahn detailed that Wynn Resorts has budgeted $40 million for Wynn Interactive marketing and customer acquisitions for January through March 2022. The spend is expected to further decrease over the next three quarters.

Wynn Interactive is the latest big name in the US interactive gaming space to slash its traditional marketing spend. Caesars Sportsbook, the digital gaming unit of the Las Vegas Strip casino giant, announced earlier 메이저토토 this month that its media spend is being cut drastically.

Caesars Entertainment CEO Tom Reeg said Caesars Sportsbook will record a $1 billion loss this year on the basis of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).
