Peace, Passion, Purpose
“We must use our lives to make the world a better place to live, not just to acquire things. That is what we are put on the earth for.”
From Michelle
We held our first Wednesday gathering this week. For new families, our Wednesday gathering is a student led time. Our sixth grade students lead our time together and lead the recitation, fifth grade students share quotes on a specific Eagle Peak Montessori virtue, and the AP students help set up and run the audio. All students stay with their classroom groups and we recite either a Pledge to the Earth or the Recitation for Peace and sing Light a Candle for Peace.
Next month, in October, we will hold our Partnership Meetings. Some of you may note the new title. Caring for the whole student is truly a work of partnership. When the students are younger this partnership might primarily be between the parents and teachers. However, as they get older, the student starts to learn how to advocate for themselves as well and become a more active participant in that partnership. Unfortunately, we are not able to allow the parent observation part of this process this year. As our returning families may remember, typically the week prior to conferences, we ask parents to come and observe their child in the school environment. Due to the covid protocols, this is not possible for this year.
A few week ago the CFEP sent out their requests and information about this year's Annual Giving Campaign. Eagle Peak Montessori is looking at a myriad of expenses and temporary changes that will impact our financial bottom line this year. We hope that if you can, you will support this campaign. It is only through the generosity of our families that we are able to continue providing the programs that we do throughout the year.
For many years, we were asked if there was a way to cut down on the excessive amount of paper we would send home weekly. During the closure, we found new ways to send out the information our families needed electronically. We are working to continue this practice although we are back on campus together. Our newsletter currently allows families to translate all of the information into the language of their choosing at the click of a button. However, we are also aware that not all families prefer electronic communications and I am personally a much bigger fan of paper. We will have a few copies of Friday Folder, childcare forms and breakfast order forms in the office each week. Please look in the wooden magazine shelf.
INDEPENDENT STUDY UPDATE
This week in a legal update, it was clarified that we can only do 14 day Independent Studies. They cannot go into a 15th day. We ask that you keep this in mind when planning any voluntary out of school time, aka, trips, etc... We know that children will miss days this year due to illness or needing to be tested for Covid and it is best to use these Independent Studies very judiciously. Vacations and the time mandated for quarantine after flights, etc. are considered unexcused. 14 unexcused absences become a truancy concern. In prior years, this could be avoided through Independent Studies, this will be much more difficult this year.
AP Parents,
We are noticing that many of your students are getting picked up early. Please make sure that you are looking over the planner with your child over the weekend so that you can see what they will be missing in these cases. All of the teachers plan carefully for the academic time together that they have. This is especially true of AP where there is simply so much curriculum to cover. Much of the work in the classroom cannot be made up or taken with them. We ask that you consult with your child's planner we determining early dismissal or absences. Thank you in advance.

News from CFEP
We were so thrilled with the response we had for Eagle Peak Swag at the picnic! Thank you so much for your support. We have received feedback that there has been interest in purchasing more, so we wanted to set up a new way of getting your swag that makes it easy for parents and our school staff to facilitate. We will be adding a purchase portal on the CFEP website for you to purchase items, and have scheduled days for self service pick-up in front of the school to minimize contact in the office similar to what we had during distance learning. You will be required to pick them up at these scheduled times ONLY.
We are also VERY excited to share that we are working towards offering EPMS branded masks, and will hopefully have them this fall for purchase! These are high quality cotton masks that have a metal nose bridge, adjustable ear loops, and a filter pocket. We will have them in two sizes, for kids and adults. We have tested them on a variety of faces to ensure that they will work across the board.
Stay tuned for the announcement of these items being officially launched soon, and thank you again for all of your support!!

A Few Reminders:
Covid Testing- Please note that we must receive the results of a Covid- 19 PCR test. We cannot accept the results of a rapid test. Thank you for your help with this.
We cannot allow childcare pick up between 3p-3:30p. Amy and Leslie are not in the office due to carpool pick up.
Sometimes it may be quicker and easier to walk in and pick up your kids at their classroom if there is parking.
Please remember to send a water bottle with your child's name on it to school with them. They can refill them in the classrooms and the drinking fountain if they run out.
If you need to pick up your child early, please email both the office (Admin@eaglepeakmontessori.org) and the classroom (all email addresses are located in the Parent and Student Handbook located in Transparent Classroom). This will be a great help as the teachers are planning their lessons.
Please always, always use the crosswalk.
Make up picture day is scheduled for October 15, 2021.
Attached is the October Breakfast Calendar. Please Make your selections and return to the office.
Please remember to write your childs name on their jackets, lunchboxes, water bottles etc.

EPMS Yearbook Committee: The EPMS yearbook is created each school year by a fun group of parent volunteers who are dedicated to creating a yearbook full of wonderful memories for Eagle Peak students. We are always looking for volunteers to join the team! Some of the volunteer opportunities include helping organize yearbook activities, taking photographs of class and school events, designing yearbook pages, and so much more. If you are interested or have questions about joining our fun group of parents, please email Jennifer Womble and Rachel Hallquist at ptlg@eaglepeakmontessori.org
Also, in order to volunteer on campus you must be vaccinated and finger printed.
Don't forget about Box Top$ for Education!
Remember to gather your Box Tops for Education.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to Eagle Peak's earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops. Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact we can make. Learn more about how Box Tops works at BTFE.com.
