A Note from Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Congratulations to the 5th grade students of Hyde-Addison ES, who were invited to participate in the annual U.S. National Park Service’s History at the Lincoln event, where students from across the district were able to celebrate the spirit of the history made on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, through speeches, poetry and song. Links to the 5th grade presentations and the opening address I was invited to deliver on behalf of DC Public Schools, will be made available on Facebook and Twitter.
Thank you to the families and staff who participated in the Hybrid Learning and Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force meetings, today. During the Hybrid Learning Task Force session, we started the initial discussions around the DCPS launch of Summer Acceleration Academies and the Recovery Community Corps. If you are interested in joining the Task Force in these collaborative efforts, by participating in productive discourse, sharing feedback and providing direct support, please feel free to email me. Several planning sessions will be held throughout the month of March.
As it relates to Term 4, two key factors will determine if additional students will be able to join in-person or CARE classes. We could offer additional seats if DC Health and DCPS increase the number of students allowed in each cohort and if physical social distancing requirements are reduced. This would allow our physical classroom spaces to accommodate more students. Also, supplemental cohorts could only be added if there are changes in the allowable staffing structures, which do not appear to be an option at this time.
Please keep you and your loved ones safe. For resources and information about the District of Columbia Government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) response and recovery efforts, please visit coronavirus.dc.gov. Please visit dcpsreopenstrong.com or backtoschool.dc.gov for DCPS resources.

Dear Hyde-Addison parents,
As students return, we would like to know how we can serve the surrounding schools and community. New programs and enrollments begin March 1st by completing this survey you can share with us the programs you would like to see at Jelleff. We are particularly looking to find out about interest in Afterschool programming with limited numbers and no transportation. We will not be able to resume transportation this school year.
