January/February Update
Happy New Year!!!! I hope everyone's 2023 is off to a great start. We had alot of great moments in 2022 and I am looking forward to see what 2023 has planned for Kingston High School. The staff and students have been very busy during these winter months. We have alot of clubs who are in mid season form. Our RC and Robotic Clubs have been preparing for competition. We also have our Weightlifting Club who had an impressive showing at the Millington meet and have multiple lifters who have already qualified for state meet. This weekend, Mrs. Flikkie took our Snow Sculpting Team to Zehnder Snowfest in Frankenmuth and built the "Cardinal Cottage" out of snow. The team didn't place but their artwork was awesome!!!! I would like to thank all of our club leaders for their dedication and time put into these clubs.
The basketball team and cheerleaders have been putting on amazing performances in gyms across the thumb. Both our boys and girls varsity basketball teams are currently on top of the NCTL Stars Division standings. If you haven't had the opportunity to watch our basketball teams this year I would highly recommend coming to a game. I am excited to see what these teams can do as we move into the tournament.
I want to give a big shout out to our jr. high students, their parents, and teachers for their commitment to improve reading levels in our jr. high students. At the beginning of the year during a data review, our team noticed that our jr. high reading scores were low and behind most other schools in the county. The team decided to implement a reading program and introduce a new classroom program. The results were amazing. Every school in the county took the reading test over the last month and Kingston Jr. High had the highest reading scores in our county. I truly appreciate everyones effort to help our students grow and I love the buy in by our students.
I hope everyone has a great year and I am excited to see what we can do around KHS this year.

Attendance, Grades and Support
Attendance
As we start the second semester, I want to stress the importance of school attendance. I understand that everyone has different health conditions and immune systems. So some of us might be sick more than others. If your child is sick or has an ongoing health issue that might make them miss school please get a doctor note and turn it in to the office. If your child is feeling well and able to come to school please make sure that they attend. We added and modified the attendance policy at the beginning of the school year. With our updated policy grades will be dropped if nine or more days are missed during a semester. Please see our student handbook located on our school website for the complete policy. There are many studies that show attendance is important for success in school.Grades
Report cards for the 1st semester will be mailed out the week of January 30th. If your child is struggling or needs academic help, please contact your child's teacher. Also please make sure that you are monitoring your child(rens) grades using Skyward. If you need help getting logged into Skyward please contact the high school office.
Support
We offer before and after school tutoring. We have a highly qualified teacher who will run tutoring on Thursday morning from 7-7:45 and after school on Monday thru Thursday from 3-4. There is no signing up, students can just show up. If you or your child need a tutoring schedule, please contact the high school office.
