Hello families!
Readers are Leaders
We will finish Benchmark Unit 7: Holidays and Celebrations. Within this unit, we will learn about:
- listening for and retelling key details
- Identify cause and effect relationships
- Compare and contrast informational texts
- Describe relationship between text and illustrations
We will begin Benchmark Unit 8: Weather and Seasons
- listening for and retelling key details
- Identify cause and effect relationships
- Identifying setting
- Compare and contrast informational texts
- Describe relationship between text and illustrations
We will continue our phonics exploration with the Really Great Reading, Countdown, program :)
Math is Magical!
We will finish working on Eureka Module 4 and learn:
- Representing pictorial decomposition and composition addition stories to 9 and 10 with 5-group drawings and equations with no unknown.
- Solve add to with total unknown and put together with total unknown problems with totals of 9 and 10.
- Solve both addends unknown word problems with totals of 9 and 10 using 5-group drawings.
We will begin working on Eureka Module 5 and learn:
- Counting 10 ones and some ones
- Composing numbers 11-20 from 10 ones and some ones
- Represent and write teen numbers
- Decompose numbers 11-20
- Count to answer "How many?"
Social Studies, Science, Health, and Leader in Me!
In Social Studies we will discuss today and long ago, and culture.
In Science we will be learning what plants and animals need to survive, and how living things change their environment .
Our Leader in Me program will continue as we learn more about being leaders and role models! We will learn about being proactive, beginning with the end in mind, and working before we play.
Reminders
- Please be sure to check your child's backpack and home/school folder daily. Please empty the "Keep at Home" materials each evening.
- As the weather is getting warmer please send in a new change of clothes of your child AND please remember to label ALL of your child's belongings. This includes items they remove (sweatshirts, sweaters, hats, scarves, and gloves).
