Important Update on St. Paul District Operations
Dear St. Paul Community,
Thank you for partnering with us in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year which will see all of our students back in school on a full time basis. Many questions have been raised regarding the conditions under which our students will return to school. Your district administration and school board will be reviewing all existing requirements and health department advisory recommendations at the August 9th school board meeting. Currently, our proposed plan includes the optional wearing of masks by staff, students, and community members while on campus. Currently, the Center for Disease Control requires mask wearing on public transportation. If this requirement remains in place when school resumes then our students and staff will be required to wear masks while riding on our school buses. Though we are continuing to see positive progress in reduced numbers of Covid cases, it is still our number one priority to keep students and staff safe, while at the same time honoring the priorities of our local school community.
I hope you have had the opportunity to review the upcoming year’s calendar and school start and release times for both buildings. This information was included in my last community update. We have nearly completed all phases of our summer learning camps and I am pleased to share with you that it has gone exceptionally well. We had good participation from both staff and students in the summer learning opportunities. It is our hope that we can return to school in the fall under normal circumstances. I will continue to keep you updated and I appreciate your patience as we continue to monitor all available sources of information.
Sincerely,
Joseph M. Wehrli
School District Superintendent
