Thanks for partnering with us these first few days of school. We've had a great start to the year! Our scholars are excited about coming to school each day and they are quickly catching on to all of the routines. As always, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, concerns and/or ideas.

**Tomorrow, Friday, September 6 is Football Friday! Students are invited to wear a jersey or other shirt to represent their favorite football team.

We are excited to share that CES will soon be joining several other FCPS schools as a composting school! This is an important initiative towards helping our environment. In order to make this work, we do need help during our lunch shifts! Please consider volunteering your time to help us kick-off. See the link for information and to sign up.

*Safety Message: FCPS reminds everyone that it is unlawful for students to possess or use any weapon on school property. Students who have or use a weapon on school property will be suspended from school, and the police will be noticed of the incident. A weapon is any object designed to harm another physically or an object which is used in a way that can physically harm another. This school is committed to providing each of you with a safe environment, and we will do all we can to carry out that responsibility, including , if necessary, conducting searches of student lockers.

*Food In Schools: FCPS has amended Wellness Regulation 400-82 to comply with state and federal law. The updates, made March 18, 2015, read in part: “For health and safety reasons, parents/visitors are only permitted to bring in food that is intended for consumption by their individual student. For health and safety reasons, students are only permitted to bring in food for personal consumption.” This means that FCPS families are not permitted to bring foods to school to share with other students such as to celebrate a birthday. Thank you for considering the health and safety of all students.

We appreciate the involvement of our volunteers at CES. If you are planning to volunteer at any point this year which includes chaperoning a field trip; you will need to complete an online volunteer training. This training is revised so if you completed it prior to this newsletter, you will need to complete it again. Click on the link below for the training video.
